From Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado (1885)

My object all sublime
I shall achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime.

What's going on here is more like:

We want punishment; let's find a crime that fits.

Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin's secret police head, said, "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime."

The Oxford Eagle has an excellent article about this which references the 5th, 6th and 14th amendments to the U.S. Constitutions.  I've completely given up posting links that do not work on AN.

  • These pardons are an admission of guilt and a direct indictment that the entire Biden administration is a corrupt criminal enterprise.

  • Preemptive pardons are different from post-conviction pardons and do not imply guilt.   These pardons are a shield against potential political retribution, as suggested by Trump’s past rhetoric

Hey Don, good to see you again my friend.  Hope all is well with you and yours.  Just got 5 inches of snow today in the Florida panhandle.  Blew my mind.  Take care

I laud the fact that you don't know anything about me but I will give you a tidbit.  I unlike yourself am willing to work with Trump and his ilk to help make America a better place to work and live and to prosper.  I'm not on the left or the right for that matter but I'm somewhere in between. You see I'm old school and my mindset is so different from yours.  So when you can grow up and give me something constructive feel free to write back.

From reading your responses here it obviously you’re not old school. You believe that you are a moderate but you are not- you have been pulled and dragged farther to the left by the feel good delusions of the left.

Question has been answered many times already.

Apparently many of you are having a problem recognizing the answers and having trouble differentiating between preemptive pardons for crimes that have yet to be investigated, charged or prosecuted, and those that have already been charged and-or prosecuted. This is because the media has not dictated your opinion yet.

Quite a few enemies on the list.  I counted 60.  While it may sound like a good idea to some, I think there are many other pressing issues that need to be addressed before expending precious resources on this.  Seems more like a vendetta to me and it often backfires when you pursue one.

I think the persecuted party (gop)can seek legal accountability( left calls it retribution) if they investigate crimes and assign it to an individual without losing step in Making America Great Again.

That about sums it up!

Why would the criminal left investigators need preemptive clemency if they had not participated in any crimes?

Check mate

If the incoming DOJ intended to criminally charge those in the above Biden pardon for their 'political activities', those activities would likely have occurred in Washington DC.

They would then have to seat a federal grand jury in a jurisdiction that voted 90.28% Ms. Harris and 6.47% for Mr. Trump in the 2024 election

If it can be pursued without distracting from the GOP's main agenda of moving America forward, then I would say it's worth a try.  But we don't need any more DOJ circuses.
