Going soft on China. First the Tik Tok guy is seated in the front row at his inauguration and now the promised tariffs on China "will now be assessed."

He owes Musk. What else did you think was going to happen in the real world? He's just becoming a real politician with promising all sorts of things that don't happen. He didn't put HRC in prison either, much to my disappointment.

Essentially, you're correct. Musk is the one pulling the strings, now. And Musk is pro China. Anyone who doubts it should go over on X today and see how many China accounts have suddenly popped up directing people to Chinese social media sites. What did I think was going to happen? All of this that is happening. I've been saying as much for  over a year. At the end of the day, with things that matter the most, there will not be much difference between Biden and Trump. Maybe we get some relief from illegal immigration. OTOH Presidents Trump and Musk have said they want to increase "legal" immigration. So, bottom line: going soft on China, finessing and reorienting the immigration issue, going to "drill baby drill" when it's already going 100 percent.

Hmm. It actually makes perfect sense, but you need to be capable of sensing nuance.

  • Your statement is actually a thinly veiled trope about how Trump can't be trusted to keep his promises. The part suggesting an action item for us was simply a diversion so you could attempt to play victim when someone inevitably called you out on your disingenuousness.
  • It's perfectly reasonable to posit leftists as an opposite of Trump. Surely even an "ex-republican" knows that?

Capische? (Sorry, drifted from simple English there, but I hope you can still understand.)

I don't get that Musk is pro China as Chinese EVs will wipe the floor with Tesla, unless he's given up on Tesla- sold his shares and abandoned ship.

However, I know little about the intricacies of the China situation except they are not friends with anyone not Chinese- ask the Tibetans about that.

Up to me, Nixon would never have normalised China, and they'd still be marching around waving Mao's little red book, and Britain would still rule Hong Kong, but if wishes were horses and all that.

Re Drill Baby, I suspect the pipeline from Canada will be resumed soon. It shouldn't have deteriorated in only 4 years.

Q What is the difference between legal guest workers and illegals?

A Guest workers go home when  their visa ends. Illegals stay forever and breed faster than the locals, eventually taking over and turning their new home into a <deleted> hole like the place they ran away from.

There was no need for any nuance as my statement was clear. There is no thin veil of trope about trump except in your mind. He can not be trusted and if you actually knew his history throughout his life you would know that.

Im not playing the victim in any way, just pointing out how you and his other followers fall for his bs and should keep score for yourselves.

I'm not posting anything leftist so that was a nice try at gaslighting what was actually written. Im posting trump is a POS and has no moral compass. That has nothing to do with Republican or Democrat left or right he is and has always been a POS. You dont need to be in any category to be an A$$hat, its called character or lack of it. If you agree with him and his positions and actions then perhaps you fall into that same category, Capische??????

Unfortunately there seem be to too few ex-epublicans like you.

Calm down already, these things take time and need to be negotiated.

Why is it that the left is always jumping the gun? Impatient and chasing the media for any glimpse of hope of failure. This is really getting fun to watch!

If they don't happen then his fans claim he was just joking or didn't really mean it, of maybe he misspoke, something like that.

It will be someone else's fault for any outlandish, ridiculous or action deemed illegal that can't be completed.  Classic trump

There are actually more than it might seem they just won't declare it.

Trump is a bellicose deal-maker.  The bluster about tariffs are "art of the deal stuff" here.  He spews a lot of hyperbole before he gets down to business. The bluster puts people on edge and softens them up.  A lot of this is play-acting.  What he wants are deals that work in the best interests of both the US and China.

Trump is a idiot and thinks deal making as he practices it works and it only does on people in a weaker position. Most other countries look at him and the US as joke at this point. The credibility he has thrown away will be hard and lengthy to replace.

And obviously his fans just believe everything he tells them.

Well, he has announced that he actually WILL impose a 25 percent tariff on the U.S. closest neighbors -- Canada and Mexico. Tentative date -- February 1.

Interesting that 25 percent sounds somewhat moderated from previous threats but 25 percent is 25 percent and not chopped liver.

I bet the avocado toast generations are gonna love the prices increase.

i thought it ironic that in his inauguration speech he said he would make other countries would respect the usa. sorry mate, other countries know a) you're an out and out self serving bully and liar, and b) americans are idiots for electing you. zero respect there.

Trump realizes almost nothing about anything.

He's great at marketing. He's garbage at governing.

His attention span is about the last guy he talked to and now all those guys are loyalist often oligarchs. Fasten your seatbelts.

Absolutely. He's degrading the USA brand bigly and with two terms, the damage is going be super hard to repair later.

You know, a key part of Putin's anti-western propaganda for many years has been, yeah we suck, but America sucks as bad as we do, so you have no grounds to criticize us. Tragically it's hard not to acknowledge that Trump is proving him right.

Guest workers also don't stay in mid-city hotels on the taxpayer dime, costing $$billions that could be better spent on citizens' needs.  Like water to fight fires.

What happens when these other countries retaliate with counter tariffs?

It's not as if Europe wants US chlorine washed chicken or additive laced foods and drinks, many of which are banned because of their content.
