The Old Bull Posted Thursday at 10:47 AM Posted Thursday at 10:47 AM Years ago I came over on points then bought a return ticket from here. You could get a business class ticket for almost half the price. I think the airlines caught on and the price is the same where ever you buy it now.

But he said he never had to show his ticket to the airline. To travel on visa exrmpt with a o/way is careless. Whenever I checked in on o/way ticket airline asked to show the visa. Major ones tend to ask.
DrJack54 Posted Thursday at 11:13 AM Posted Thursday at 11:13 AM 6 minutes ago, Letseng said: Whenever I checked in on o/way ticket airline asked to show the visa. Major ones tend to ask. What you are stating is that some airlines require a visa or reentry permit or if flying visa exempt ask to see onward flight. In these threads typical replies have been along lines of ..... I have never been asked for onward flight I have sometimes been asked for onward flight I often am asked for onward flight. I have posted options in the thread. Folk can make their own call. In my experience....low cost airlines Jetstar Oz to Thailand visa exempt want onward flight. Low cost airlines to nearby countries eg AirAsia Saigon to Bangkok require onward flight.
LespaulAN Posted Thursday at 11:41 AM Posted Thursday at 11:41 AM I came to Thailand last April with a 1 way ticket. No problem for me. 1

Do they check in airport your return ticket? They will most certainly refuse you to board the plane. Get a cheap ticket to Laos or Cambodia. It might not even be real. That will work.

Srikcir Posted Friday at 01:56 AM Posted Friday at 01:56 AM Stay in Thailand should be less than 180 days 2

Do they check in airport your return ticket? Yes you may well have problems. On arrival at Bkk I was asked how long I was staying. My return flight was 90 days but I had a onward ticket for 60 days. On arrival they did ask to see the outbound flight and recorded it on my records. I then decided not to use the onward ticket as I am meeting somebody travelling to Bangkok around that time so I was thinking of an extension. I am now 47 days in and a few days ago I got the chance to go to Poi Pet Cambodia for a couuple of days in a friend's car. Coming back into Thailand I got a real third degree grilling. Why wasn't I going to Singapore, the onward flight that I had and I was not taking, when was I coming to Thailand again, did I have a family in Thailand. I was just coming for 3 months, so just an addional 30 days. You are coming for 6 months so will need an extention another exempt entry and another extension or two more exempt entries. Given the problems I had just staying 90 days I would say you are going to have problems. They seemed to have really clamped down.

"I would say you're dreaming thinking you're going to bounce out and back easily at the Aranyaprathet Poipet border. It was a bad border before the lockdowns, and it's a terrible border now. Suck it up, go to Ban Laem or Ban Pakard. You'll get out and back with no issues at either of those borders."

Yes you do , if your entering Thailand with no onward ticket then you need to enter on a Non Immigrant O Visa , the other choice is if you enter visa free then you must have a return flight.

He does not require a Non O. With any visa including a SETV etc an onward flight would not be required by airline. Did you read the thread In all probability the airline may not ask for onward flight. If they do he can obtain on the spot either rent a ticket or real throw away ticket.. BTW: does not need to be return flight.
parafareno Posted Friday at 09:26 AM Author Posted Friday at 09:26 AM so if i buy rent a ticket....isnt it valid only for 48 hours? and they will ask me wow that is weird you came to bkk and want to stay only 1 day?

You again are not understanding the rent a ticket. When you fill in the form online you nominate the date of travel. That for example can be in 50 days after arrival. The record of the ticket itself for airlines to check is only valid for couple of days. Longer if you opt to pay more. Do you have any more genuine questions as your options have been explained several times

What visa are you getting for three months ? You'll need to attend immigration as you only get 30 days on arrival, then a 29 day extension waiver can be applied for, then there is more plasterwork needed after that for further extensions. Supposed to be able to do it online but.... 🙂 it does't work for me https://e-services.immigration.gov.ph/ As to your other question about a one way ticket, I have been asked once in many trips to Thailand, I lied and said I was catching the bus to Cambodia, that seemed to satisfy the counter staff, presumably because I had an answer ? I have never been asked at immigration, only by airline counter staff upon departure from Australia. Of course that wont work for The Philippines and it does say on the front page of the immigration web site https://evisa.gov.ph/ Quote No visa required for a stay not exceeding thirty (30) days. Traveler must hold valid ticket for return journey to country of origin or next country of destination and a passport valid for a period of at least six (6) months beyond the stay in the Philippines. though the last two times I have only had one way tickets You're also supposed to register with their visitor app, last time airport staff were asking arrivals if they had and pulling people aside to go do it before they get to immigration if they hadn't. I had but there was no checking at immigration. That was last year though. https://etravel.gov.ph/

Confuscious Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago This is just a silly thread that comes up every few weeks. Better make a "pinned post" explaining that it is the duty of the airline to check if you comply with the tourist/immigratino rules of the destination. Some airlines companies will, some will not follow that rule. But if you take the risk of flying from the US/Europe/anywhere and being denied entry in Thailand while you can buy an onward ticket , don't start complaining. 1
parafareno Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago so is there visa on arrival for 2 months? Or is it 1 month now?
DrJack54 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago 4 minutes ago, parafareno said: so is there visa on arrival for 2 months? Or is it 1 month now? It's not visa on arrival. It's visa exempt entry and gives a 60 day permission of stay. That can be extended by 30 days for 1900b Folk usually apply for extension week or 2 prior to stamp expiry. The 30 is added to the current permission of stay so no days "lost" by applying early
