Yes, Trump calls himself a Christian. He's obviously not a serious one based on his behavior. His cult accepts him as a Christian. In fact, his cult now holds him up as some kind of God King Jesus figure who is sacrificing himself to save America. The bleeding ear incident has been made into a religious myth even though there is actually no evidence that he was actually shot in the ear. Of course there is no evidence that Jesus was literally born again, so such facts are not important to religious belief systems. Trump is milking this religious myth about himself which makes his authoritarian movement even more insane and dangerous that it already was.

As far as what Trump believes himself, I reckon he's not in the slightest bit religious. Posing with the Christian stuff is strictly TRANSACTIONAL like everything else in his criminally corrupt lying life.

 

Can the USA save the world?

Of course not whatever that means, but I do think a most powerful USA and west has been and would be better for the world than a most powerful axis of autocracy (Russia, China, Iran, etc.). 

 

He attended the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. at special  interfaith and ecumenical service. Of course, the U.S. doesn't have a state religion so the concept of a National Cathedral is a bit weird, but practically necessary for historical events that involve presidents and such. Have you been? It's a lovely place with lovely grounds.

I used to live in England. Most of the quaint old churches were used as markets on Saturday.

 

They didn't desert these moribund, useless hunks of dead wood real estate because they went woke.
