Man High on Cannabis Goes on Rampage, Claims He Wasn’t Hallucinating

Authorities in Nonthaburi, Thailand, responded to a late-night incident involving a man allegedly under the influence of cannabis who caused significant damage to his home and neighbouring properties. The episode occurred in Bang Bua Thong district, where police were called at approximately 00:30 to address the situation.

 

The suspect, a 42-year-old man referred to as Mr. Namfa was found naked and in a state of chaos, destroying furniture and household items within his two-story townhouse. He reportedly punched a hole in the ceiling and climbed onto the roof, damaging his own home and adjacent properties.

 

Officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station detained Mr. Namfa and brought him to the station to calm down. Following negotiations, his father agreed to compensate neighbours for the damage. No formal charges were filed, and Mr. Namfa was released after discussions concluded.

 

Mr. Namfa admitted to being a daily cannabis user for over five years. He claimed that he normally felt relaxed after smoking and would sleep, but on this occasion, he used a mix of two types of cannabis without blending it with tobacco. This, he said, led to a level of intoxication that left him “unaware” of his actions.

 

“I didn’t hallucinate or feel paranoid. I just wanted to clear out the house because it felt like I was going to move soon. I didn’t mean to destroy anything,” he stated, adding that he regretted smoking pure cannabis and vowed to quit, having promised the police chief he would try to stop.

 

 

Mr. Namfa’s sister, Ms. Pu, described the night as particularly distressing. “I heard loud noises and asked him what he was doing because our father was asleep. This has happened before, but this time was worse,” she said.

 

According to Ms. Pu, Dduring the incident, he threw household items down the stairs and even at the police officers who arrived. It took nearly 20 officers two hours to bring the situation under control.

 

“He knows he loses control, but he refuses to seek help. We live in fear, not knowing what might happen next. I hope the authorities or a relevant organisation can intervene and get him the treatment he needs,” she added.

Correct. Cannabis, the use of which is legal in Thailand, has a calming effect. This incident sounds more like a combination of alcohol and crystal meth (yaa baa). Latter is illegal as a result of which those under threat of arrest regularly allege they have been taking cannabis.

It is. I never mix tobacco with weed, and although I usually smoke 1 "type" of cannabis and rotate between "types" every few days, I sometimes mix 2 and even 3 "types" together, as I've done in the last couple of days.

I am becoming more convinced that there needs to be some kind of gauge on the strength of THC. As one poster said, the weed is more potent nowadays. Of course the weed could have been treated with something, or a myriad of other variables could be possible. I am hearing much too often about irrational behavior on weed and not only in Thailand. 

Is anyone here aware of any research being conducted to determine the potency of THC and its behavioral effects?
