A pickup truck was severely damaged after swerving to avoid a motorbike that abruptly cut in front of it. The vehicle lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving one person dead and five others injured.

The incident occurred on January 24 near the Krua Bai Mon restaurant on Liap Khlong Mon Road, Thap Yao Subdistrict, Lat Krabang District, Bangkok. Police Lieutenant Thanawat Chuenglin, an investigating officer from Chorakhe Noi Police Station, responded to the incident alongside forensic medical staff from the Police General Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

At the scene, officers found a purple Isuzu pickup truck (registration from Bangkok) overturned on its right side in the ditch. Passengers who had been riding in the truck bed were scattered around the area. One passenger, identified as Mr. Mongkol 44, from Sisaket Province, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five others sustained injuries, two of whom were in critical condition. The injured were transported to Chularat 8 Hospital, Lat Krabang Hospital, and Sirindhorn Hospital for treatment.

According to the initial investigation, the group had been returning to their accommodation after dining at a restaurant. Most of the passengers were seated in the truck bed. The crash occurred when a motorbike suddenly cut in front of the pickup truck, forcing the driver to swerve, resulting in the vehicle driver  veering off the road.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
