Don't people, expats here, actually have friends.  You know, get togethers at houses, a little bbq, sit around, talk to each other.   Especially since a bit cooler weather and not brutally hot outside.

Sitting in a bar environment all the time can't be healthy.  You can always ring up you favorite night time companion, to get your freak on later, especially if he, she or it is P4P.  People do keep a little black book (folder of phone) of friends w/bennies, or P4P companions.  Myself, the former when single.  No different in TH, as when back in USA.

People been here long enough, they do, should have some 'real' friends.  When I lived in Udon Thani, I popped over friend's houses, and they over to ours for a day of food & drinks, and chit chat.

Life revolving around alcohol & bars has got to get boring, sooner or later, and need to break it up sometimes.   What better time than 'no sales' day.

Even a meet up at a night market with friends, as if nobody serving any alcohol, hard to believe, then BYO.   Especially folks in Patts.  If not drinking spirits, how hard to throw  6er in a cooler and hang out surfside.

I am a pub/bar person.

I don't like going to other people's homes and don't really want others in mine. The habit of a lifetime has been to meet my friends in the pub/whatever and go home when I feel ready. Not as often nowadays as previously, dry days not a problem now as due to health reasons I haven't had a drink for 8 months.

The great W C Fields wrote a wonderful sketch entitled "The day I drank a glass of water". It resulted from finding himself in a bar on election day in the US, where alcohol is, or was, also banned. When he enquired about the origin of the law, the barman replied "The people voted for it", to which he memorably replied "That's carrying democracy too far!".

a better answer? The standard must be very low because this says nothing, twice.

great to see you asking the burning questions, not wasting cycles on the latest trend

i wonder what the annual carbon footprint is on folk like you using AI to make pointless queries

Having friends round is great... coupla bevvies then get into some naked fondue followed by a late evening skinny dip in the pool.

Pity most posters on this thread have nothing useful to add

As the Chinese would say ' A Bic erection'.

No disrespect to my Pu Tai wife intended.

I have never met a small village or Ma & Pa shop that won't sell a drink 24/7.

I have also never met a plod who will refuse 500 baht cash.

I guess this no beer thingy is about cities rather than the wider community?🙃🙃

Alcohol sales are banned this Friday due to elections being held.

Not in Bangkok, contacted 3 bars yesterday and they all said they would be open.

I've been in Thailand 20 years and have NEVER saw this law enforced. Or any other come to that. I reside in Buriram province.
