Nonsense.  When the (expressway?) traffic is so heavy that using that lane is deemed a necessity by the police, by definition, traffic cannot "speed down the emergency lane".

You claim it happens every weekday but the picture you use to demonstrate this is from May 2022; almost 3 years ago!  Surely a weekday occurrence would have more recent evidence?

Secondly that is a picture of the Thai police wearing the correct Hi-Viz vests and using traffic cones to regulate traffic in response to some incident (accident, congestion, other traffic issue) and ensure that traffic moves more smoothly.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the silver Toyota Fortuner, registration from Bangkok, with  front-end damage. It had collided with the red Yamaha Grand Filano, registration number from Chonburi, which was wrecked on the road.

 

 

The motorcycle rider, identified as Ms. Kulthida, 19, and her passenger Ms. Thassanee, sustained critical injuries. Rescue workers rushed them to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Ms. Thassanee succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

 

Eyewitnesses reported that the Fortuner, driven by Mr. Lewis 19, was allegedly travelling at speed, honking aggressively to overtake other vehicles before striking the motorcycle. The impact sent both the riders and the bike flying and dragged them more than 100 metres along the road.

 

Footage from CCTV cameras confirmed the Fortuner overtaking a car at high speed before colliding head-on with the motorcycle, causing sparks and dragging the wreckage along the road.

 

Pol Lt. Damchalouay took Mr. Lewis into custody and conducted a breathalyser test, which found no alcohol in his system. Investigators are reviewing the footage and gathering additional evidence to determine whether reckless driving charges will be filed.

 

The body of the deceased will be handed over to her family for funeral rites, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues.

No excuse for driving like that. I 've never been to Pattaya, but I thought the Police there were clamping down on bad driving due to the number of accidents.

this was East Pattaya, so where most people will live long time. So he will probably have been the son of a local expat. With a young boy who just got his driving license.  Generally dangerous driving there with all the motorbikes. This is actually my fear by the time my son grows up and gets 18. I dont want him to ever drive a motorbike around here with the daily motorbike accidents and deaths i see here on the road. But buying him a pickup of some sort will keep him safe, but 

my fear is that he will hit someone like this when driving by himself and not having road experience yet to handle all traffic situations as you should really think for the other drivers here.

i saw yesterday 2 girls on one motorbike there that looked like they killed themselves as they were not moving anymore and police there to take pictures. Believe it was Boonsampan. Did not see it anywhere online, but maybe in the Thai local news as no foreigner connection was evident.
