Bangkok's residents are unhappy about fireworks set off by Chinese celebrants during the Chinese New Year. These fireworks have sparked fires in local grasslands, creating chaos for the fire department and distressing pets. Social media users across multiple Bangkok neighborhoods, like Huai Khwang, Rama 9, and Ramkhamhaeng, are voicing their complaints.

A local Facebook page, Big Kren, shared a video showing groups celebrating with fireworks. These groups dispersed when police arrived but resumed their activities soon after, causing grass fires that needed fire engines to control. The post highlighted how this ongoing issue affects the elderly, children, and pets, especially in areas like Rama 9 and Srinakarin.

Another Facebook page, Drama-addict, reported disturbances in Huai Khwang, questioning the extensive use of fireworks. They stressed the distress caused to pets and called for more caution.

Residents are appealing for stricter enforcement by authorities. Fireworks have been set off from Ramkhamhaeng Soi 68 from early evening till 10 PM, causing disruption. This issue recurs during festivals like Loy Krathong and New Year, causing significant annoyance.

Despite reports to emergency services and the Huamark Police Station, the fireworks persist. The area, with its significant Chinese community, continues to be affected by noise.

The unauthorized sale and use of fireworks, especially in tourist spots like Jomtien Beach, pose safety risks. Mishandling by inexperienced individuals can lead to injuries and property damage. Local police are working to resolve this through stricter laws and awareness campaigns.

Lots of bangs and crashes near my home in CM last night.

My rabbits seemed completely unconcerned.

Riding the motorbike along the main road as someone set of a 'chain of firecrackers'.

Hit by shrapnel all over.

Not particularly safe for newbies on a bike.

Just adding to the air quality... or lack of.

You can make some of the people happy some of the time but you can never make all of the people happy all of the time. There will always be someone who complains especially of other peoples fun.

Chinese New Years fireworks is no different than New Years Eve or Songkran or any other holiday Thais celebrate that involves many people. They all have a potential hazard. Should Thailand act on this complaint then they should also do so for every holiday where there is potential for someone to complain.

Can title be changed to " Less than a 1/4 % of one percent of Bangkok residents demand action over CNY fireworks 🎆?

I've about had it with people blowing s*hit up here. We have 5 dogs and they're petrified on Chinese New Year, New Years, etc.

It's time for the police to do something about this.

What would you suggest. All dogs be rounded up and housed in a soundproof  building somewhere for the duration of the holidays. 555

Keep them indoors and fit them with ear defenders for the night ... that would be the kind thing to do.

Then go live in the boonies. Complaining about noise while living in a busy city is mad
