Yeah, Tepprasit is hell. Unfortunately it has some of my favourite hangouts. It's not foreigners so much as young Thais on their rocket machines blasting along full throttle deafening everyone. Catch them at the lights, what can you do? Just don't get triggered.

I'm not normally a big fan of Russian tourists or people in general however this sounds tragic RIP just a couple romantically walking when some idiot blew the lights

I live right there. This was the second accident in 1 hour. Every time you cross the street you are worried about all these crazy people driving at 100-150 km/h when there are 100 meters to the traffic light. People come here to disconnect from all the stress at home and then you have to worry about all the crazy people driving 200 km/h.

From the initial post it sounds like the bike rider is typical young <deleted> renting a big bike to look cool. How devistating to lose your husband while innocently crossing a road,

I always think back to the gruesome accident where a Russian on a big bike, basically sliced himself in half by hitting a road sign on Jomtien Second Rd. The bikers here will dissent but I feel larger bikes should not be rented out to tourists on an IDP. They have little need of big CC. Just accommodate those wanting to tour.....

Is it too much to expect a police force to view speedsters/red-light runners then arrest them?  This way, laws are enforced and even Thai drivers learn good habits.

That is total nonsense. There is a huge middle economy in places like Russia that nobody in the west ever admits exist. There are millions of normal middle class Russians that make their living in the private sector

Yeah. Never stop if the flow of traffic is ignoring them anyway. If there's a break in the traffic and you are one of the first cars, then stop for them. 

 

The moto rider is a complete idiot too. Anytime you see a car stop on the road, you slow TF down and verify why they are slowing

 

The pedestrians also must be attentive and if you see something, just run or at least be prepared to dodge something.
