Vietnam is looking better every year. It is no wonder that Thai tourism is down and Vietnam tourism is up. -

What is the current 2025 Cost of a Cremation in Thailand?
I think that the cremation ceremony would depend on the wat itself, rural;, urban or big city wat, the number of monks needed/asked for, how many days the body is lying there. For the cremation itself, AFAIK the body is either soaked in oil, or a gas burner is used and would be relatively cheap. It is all the add ons that cost. Food etc for X number of people for X number of days, Water, beer, whiskey, ice. soda for the kids are usually on a sale or return basis. Gifts will be required for all the guests. If the wives or the family do the cooking they will rent the stuff from the temple or elsewhere. TBH brutally honest, asking for a figure is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. The overall cost depends on how much face the family wants. It can be relatively cheap or eye wateringly expensive. The choice, as always, will be the choice of the family. -

American Exceptionalism: My Bloody Sphincter!
Everyone seems to place the decline at the years in which they were young. I was born in 1982 and things seemed fine in the 90s but what do I know. Feels like things have gone off a cliff since 2008 or so after the markets crashed and social media started to become dominate. This was also the Obama the era which really inflamed tensions. -

Tourism Thailand Adjusts Tourism Goals Amid 30% Drop in Chinese Visitors
TAT has allocated 2 billion baht to increase tourism. I only charge 2 baht for this advice. 1. ELIMINATE the plan to reduce the visa-free stay for tourists from 60 days to 30 days 2. ELIMINATE the plan for a 300-baht tax on all incoming tourists 3. ELIMINATE the plans for the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) 4. ELIMINATE the jobs of the TAT staff that are constantly changing the rules in a way that makes it harder to plan inbound tourism Thank you -
