The Day the Music Died

Featured Replies

Today is the anniversary of the deaths of Buddy Holly and his companions in that plane crash. He left us with so many memorable songs.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the greatest girl singer ever, the incomparable Karen Carpenter, who Paul McC said was the best. My favourites of hers were Rainy Days and Mondays, Only Yesterday, and the very inappropriate titled Touch Me When We're Dancing.

On 6th in 1996, another angelic voice left us, Mr Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys. Compare God Only Knows https://youtu.be/yAAKG-hKdhM to Wild Honey and you will realise what a great singer he was.

Yes people die,even living legends.

Luckily for us there is a ton of new artists ,it just moves on.

A lot of new singers ,a lot never make it but some do.

There are new legends born every day,you just have to find them.

Artists die; the music is forever.

I hear regularly music from artists who died recently or long ago. The music is still the same.

Saw the Carpenters in concert in 1972.  Great show.

Don't forget the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens died too.
