Thailand Poised to Implement Carbon Tax to Curb Emissions

Recommended Posts

The major problem is crop stubble burning re hazardous pollution levels... not oil, unless oil is used in field burning...? "The envisaged carbon tax will be integrated into the existing oil tax structure..." I know this is a Buddhist country, but bit of modified message from JC may fit "Fire them, Lord, for they know not what they do"

This is a carbon tax aimed at CO2 emissions. I'm sure a pollution tax is on the way sometime soon.

Just like living in 1st country soon, one more tax scam after another.  Minimal tax, but makes having Solar & BEVs even a better idea.

Another term for Carbon Tax is Pay to Pollute.

I cannot see that it will stop anything.

"The envisaged carbon tax will be integrated into the existing oil tax structure, a strategy designed to shield consumers from direct impacts."

Surely oil consumers, i.e. most motorists, will be paying more for their fuel as a result of this tax, so I haven't quite worked out exactly how they are "shielded"!

Is this Thai logic at work again?

Climate change is a scam

The climate is changing but the reasons are up for debate. Through out history there have always been climate changes.

Yes, yes, it is beginning to look like they are going to adopt the greed methods of Western countries under the guise of the environment, and also think they can reinvent the wheel with the 'carbon tax'.
Truly ridiculous with all the smog pollution going on.

ok a new tax... but that won't solve any problem.. replace old cars, fine blacksmokers or set them aside and let them solve the problem first before they can go on.. Promote walking or cycling for short distances instead of using the motorcycle for 100 meters and many more will have a bigger effect

I guess record floods in northern Queensland, California wildfires, and Florida hurricanes are just figments of the imagination. As is sea level rise.
