Though I have nothing against outdoor camping, in general, lots of people sleeping on the beach is definitely not a good look for Pattaya, and if one does decide to sleep on the beach you should exercise great care when it comes to waste and litter. There should be a penalty to be paid for social misbehavior. Plenty of inexpensive hotels in Pattaya. 

 

In a sense the Thai government asked for this with their "Open Arms, Open Legs Visa policy", they knew that they would be inviting in the bottom of the barrel when it came to tourists. Such desperation to keep the tourism arrival numbers up.

Ok, so...Pretty much what the mayor says is that you can  bring your floor mats and sleep there on the beach in case u can't afford or don't want to pay for a hotel room. Lovely.

You’re right, it’s just racists having a rant. I have seen Westerners not suitably dressed entering bars ; they get turned away from Temples; some kissing and cuddling in Temple grounds.  Not always a regular thing but it attracts attention, same here. Brown and black people do not sunbathe but may often lie in a hot place, beach ; swimming pool , fully clothed, sometimes after a few drinks.
But Many  here never try to understand different races nor cultures, colonial mentality. We all inherited genes that affects our views and behaviors, the education systems have failed in some countries.

Absolute nonsense. Of course  the city can impose opening and closing hours for the beach if it wants to.  And, it should.  No reason for people to be on the beach after, say, midnight.  Reopen at 5am.  Many American  beaches aren't open 24 hours, with some closing at 10pm.

I'm in Pattaya now. Huge difference in just 5 years. Things are looking very filthy and rundown. 

I have been coming since 1981, honestly I don't see any difference, things looked filthy and rundown even back then.

That is really nonsense 😊 No reason to be on the beach after midnight?  You do understand that not everyone chooses to broil themselves under the sun. That a beach can be a peaceful place to relax. So the people who work until midnight and want to go to the beach to relax should be barred until 5am? Why 5am? Why not wait until the tourists wake up and have their breakfast at 9am?

There's always someone wanting to impose their rules on nature.

But let's be honest. Anything part of the beach south of Pattaya Klang is a no-go area. It's a zoo. You'll have Indian types urinating in the sea, the beach literally peppered with freelancers on and off the beach, vagrants sleeping everywhere....

I feel icky just passing through the area. So Indians sleeping on the beach don't even make a dent on the reputation of that end of the beach. It's just not pretty.
