As a devoted follower you will not object when he gives his rich friends and their corporations trillions of dollars in tax breaks, but you find it offensive to give half a billion to the poorest of the poor.

I am not devout follower like you claim, but look to the positive things he is doing like fighting illegal immigration and addressing wasteful spending.  Show me where I have supported tax breaks for the rich.  You can't because I haven't.

China does absolutely nothing beneficial for the world community. Zero. Same applies to Russia.

I'm Chinese American you got that right as far as Im concern they can drop a bomb on both next time their leaders meet.

When Thailand got hit Tsunami is a great example, when Haiti got hit while U.S. billon China gave 250 million 2nd largest economy!

The list is so long it isn't funny yet U.S. continues to get blasted over and over even when they try to fix it.

People negatives isn't about the issue but who issue the directive.Im not a Republican nor need to wear a MAGA hat to know in less than 250 years the contribution that has been made,  but stopping aid and reviewing the give aways is the right decision. I saw another 15 million to El Salvador for their trans gender operation.

If it was me in charge I would plaster the head of USAids for it is they responsible fo or any dealth hardship.

Our government leaders particular the left pander to Unions/Association's , and I'm a Union person to get votes saying they need the best and b🤣ightest to compete with private sectior how is that working. I ask those who think the closure bashing the U.S. whatever country you from better start looking at your own country.leaders and your own programs before speaking nonsense reasons it is long over due.

This is a first, next NATO, UN, WHO, which China pays 35 M, created the virus pandemic, U.S. 500 M, right or wrong provided the world with the Pfizer vaccine.

As I remember Thailand!  Front line everyone got Sino, at one stage outbreak daily was 25,000, front line who all got Sino were dropping like flies, Italy donated ? doses but that was for only Italian not bashing them, U.S. through the effort of Senator Duckworth got millions of Pfizer donated in which 200,000 plus was to be set aside to Americans and Expats I got mines in Bangkok Medpark hospital in line weren't just Americans this included Chinese National on top U.S. threw in another 40 million plus in medical equipment.

I've lived here close to 20 years doing so I've learn to appreciate America and the education and opportunities I didnt appreciate prior. The U.S. has done bad and good what country who hasn't done bad let them case the first stone from their own glass house.

Others who think their <deleted> don't stink got some half ass reason to justify their reason personally I end by saying

GO F- YOURSELF. AND DO IT WITHOUT OUR AID.

No not really, there will be a lot more!

I was talking to a former UN worker yesterday about this. Many of the workers have already been laid off.(Thailand)

Which in itself is a disaster, imagine the ripple effect.

I'm struggling to imagine how much of a ripple would be created by downsizing a self-serving bureaucratic organisation.

The international private schools will lose some business, a few drivers may lose their jobs, business class to Geneva may have a few empty seats, buffet lunches for the endless talking-shop meetings will reduce ..... but the planet will keep spinning

And now the US under Trump!

No need for you to spread misinformation.  USAID is not the only federal agency distributing aid.

Such compassion!  It isn't as if you have made any money in your cold-hearted life and paid taxes.

The losers have taken over the US.

There were jihadi prisoners in Syria being guarded by people working for USAID. When those guards were let go, the jihadis left. Perhaps they will do a terror attack and slaughter someone you love? Karma, loser.

There are patients in Africa midway through treatments for diseases like cancer, under the care of USAID. Their treatments stopped.

Perhaps you'll suffer cancer and your love muffin PINO or President Musk will cut funding for your care. karma.

Send them to the EU, medical care is free there, and they love immigrants.

it's not the USA tax payers responsibility to take care of Myanmar refugees in South East Asia. ASEAN nations should step up and be involved. Cuts like this wouldn't even be necessary if USAID wasn't just a giant money laundering scheme for left wing political ideology, instead of international aid.

I don’t know why the dems are willing to die on the hill of USAID.   The more exposure it gets, the less the public approves of the program.

I don't know either, but please let them stick to their guns. That and the men in girls' showers.

At least until after the midterms.

I'm so tired of these narratives from the low information left.

1) Keeping keeping your money is not being given your money.

2) No tax cut has restrained federal spending.

3) Why should the US taxpayer be on the hook for every problem in the world?

It is unfortunate. However, please explain why the USA is responsible for paying for the medical care for these people? China is a major  presence in the region. Where is its aid money?

The USA has been given historically aid to those regions, specificall so that China could not get a foothold there.

Remember the Vietnam war and its reason?

But it is indeed China which is financing a high speed railyway through Myanmar and without the US presence in the rebel regions, western influence will come to a complete end. I am sure that it exactly what an expansionist imperialist like Trump wants (not) -- so I am just waiting for the surprise kneejerk reactions, as soon as he realizes that he has blundered again... and that fixing it will be a lot more expensive.

Its interesting to reflect on the subject of this story, the funding for the International Rescue Committee.

The IRC was founded in 1933, in New York,  by Albert Einstein as the International Relief Association, to "provide emergency aid and long-term assistance to refugees and those displaced by war, persecution, or natural disaster". It provides support to about 30 million people including people living in 26 American cities. Its an American headquartered organisation.  Initially, they provided help to people fleeting Nazi Germany, and then people trying to get out of Vichy France. They also provided support to Allied servicemen who escaped POW camps. The IRC was really formed when the US entered the war, and it became funded by the National War Fund. Postwar, it supported Berliners during the Communist blockade By the 50s, it became essentially an integral arm of the CIA, and hence once of the ways the US extended power around the globe. To do otherwise was to surrender America to the forces of Communism and Darkness. The IRC continued to provide relief to people affected by the Communists, such as Hungary, North Vietnam, Cuba. They facilitated refugees fleeing Mao's China to British Hong Kong. This continued as they supported Afghans displaced by the murderous Soviet invasion of their country. They supported Chechens fleeing Putins murderous army, and people trying to escape the genocidal Mladic in Yugoslavia. The Committee supported Kurdish and Iraqi diaspora who had fled Saddam Hussein's Iraq, following the failed uprising, that the US encouraged but didn't in the end, support. Its notable that the aid provided to Myanmar refugees is to support those fleeting a murderous pro-Communist Chinese military dictatorship which is an enemy of America.  Those blocking their valuable work are, by de facto, Enenmies of America and the Free World.

Broadly, the IRC are on the Side of the Angels. Those opposed to the IRC are essentially Stalinist and Maoist stooges, or Useful Idiots.

While it started as a US government funded effort, these days it draws funding from governmental sources, corporations and individual donors. Twitter gave support in Kind. Musk, Apartheid Boy, last of the big spenders.

It is not contentious to put control of International Aid under the control of a Foreign Ministry. This is exactly what the last UK Conservative government did.

But Trump is Stupid, and he is so Stupid, he is easily manuipulated by people with malevolant aims. Some of these people might be long term sleepers to disrupt our societies. Certainly there were people exposed as Russian agents who went to prison for offences commited between 2016 and 2020, and from time to time, Russian sleeper cells are uncovered. There are more out there. These peope might be posing as native born Americans, but in many cases, they are naturalised citizens  who have an unhealthy influence at the core of government.

Trump is Stupid because rather than smoothly moving the control of USAID to the State Department, with a more considered review of existing and planned projects, he was suckered by these Communist Stooges to drop the nuclear option of dropping funding cold turkey.

This is not to save America money; they have no interest in benefiting the United States, only in hurting it. Their policy is not America First. its not Make America Great Again. Its Surrender American First. Its Make America Poor Again.

They want to create chaos among the United States friend and allies, in order to present to countries an alternative view of the US,  and thus cement their Communist vision, because the US brings Chaos, Communism brings Order. Putin and Xi did their utmost to disrupt Western elections, not to fix elections, but to present a view of Western society and people as being rotten and corrupt to the core. This ultimately supports Alexandr Dugin's Eurasian thesis ((Putin is an acolyte of Dugin) that the Atlanticist States (UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand) are to blame for all the trouble in the world. Dugin has called for Anglo-Saxons to be wiped off the face of the planet.

Yes, the IRC is notable for its support of US foreign policy aims, which are broadly to defend the Free World from Communism. Some are surrendering this fight, and don't realise the Cold War never ended.

Some might recall that Thailand is still home to the remnants of the Chinese Nationalist Army.

That's what the Communists want you to believe, to make you resent your own government. Its a lie that you have been fed by people who want to destroy the United States and its principles.

Per head, US citizens provided $211 in international aid. The EU provides a larger sum in totality, compared to the US, about 40% of all aid, about $218 per EU citizen

Here's the thing. The US is complaining about increased Chinese influence. Currently, China only provides about $5 billion in aid. The result of this cut in international aid is for China to increase its aid and influence. The US is being sabotaged from within by Communists.

Trump will probably do his nut when he finds out the Port of Los Angeles tried to install entirely Chinese made security equipment to protect the Homeland from terroritistic materials. Contract negotiated during the Bush era, stopped during the Obama era.

Serious questions have to be asked about the role in the US government of a naturalised US citizen who appears to have obtained an immigrant visa through fraudulant means, and who is largely financially dependent on the largesse of the Chinese Communist Party.

US needs to get the budget in order.

Social Security is in bad shape.

Now there is an oversight comity investigating all of these programs. If legit then continue if not cut it off. Same in the US.

SS needs to freeze all raises if living abroad, just like other countries.  They need to raise qualifying for SS benefits to 20 years worked not 10.

SS changes are coming no matter what, demographics dictates  that.

Reigning in the corrupt US politicians and federal employee's will help stop the misuse of funds.

The voters are in favor of this overwhelmingly. So the more articles I see like this the better. And I know they are doing their job.

And again, all it would take to turn on funding for any one of these programs would be for a couple members of Congress to stand up and go on the record supporting it.

Why will not do this?

USAID to Thailand was only $104,000 in 2023.  Admittedly that is increased by  NGOs that provide more funding by coat tailing USAID projects but the total to Thailand is still small.  The Thai government could easily take over these projects and should because it having untreated sick people, some of whom have infectious diseases within its borders is a threat to its own population.
