Travelling To Laos With The Car

Please can anynof you folks help. We understood we would be allowed 30 days with our thai car here in Laos. At the border we were told only 15 then extend at an office . We just can't remember the name or location of these offices. We were told there are a few around the country. We would like to travel further rather than just stay in Vientiane.

Quick update. As of 09/2024 thai car only allowed 15 days in Laos.

Then apply for extension in CUSTOMS OFFICES.

There are a few dotted around the country including Luang prabang,  Bokeo, Oudomxay. Find on Wikipedia under Laos customs department.

All foreign registered vehicles now get 15 days + 7 day extension (you just rock up to a border crossing and get the extension there).
