A man from Kanchanaburi was arrested in the early hours of 20 February, after brandishing a firearm in a cocktail bar following a heated dispute with his ex-wife and a waiter.

At approximately 02:05, Lieutenant Police Sub-Inspector Sonthaya Khonsap of Pattaya City Police Station received a report of an individual carrying a firearm inside Oasis Cocktail Lounge, in LK Metro, off Soi Buakhao, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, police found a distressed 28-year-old woman, identified as Ms Wi, in tears and visibly shaken. Nearby, a 40-year-old waiter, known as Mr A, was waiting to provide a statement. The suspect, later identified only as 33-year-old Mr H  had been restrained by the nightclub’s security personnel. Officers seized a .38-calibre revolver loaded with five rounds, along with a Japanese style short blade knife.

According to Ms Wi, the suspect was her former husband, from whom she had separated late last year. On the night of the incident, Mr H had been drinking at the venue when he mistakenly assumed that the waiter was his ex-wife’s new partner. Enraged, he allegedly began harassing and taunting them before physically attacking the waiter. When security intervened, the suspect reportedly drew his firearm, causing panic among patrons.

During questioning, Mr H admitted that the gun was his but claimed he had no intention of harming anyone. He alleged that security staff had forcibly restrained him, prompting him to draw the weapon. He also stated that he attacked the waiter after seeing him “arch his back provocatively” towards his ex-wife, which he found intolerable.

Lieutenant Khonsap confirmed that Mr H had been taken into custody along with the confiscated firearm and ammunition. He has been charged and is now facing legal proceedings.

And that is why he was carrying a gun, with bullets, and according to another article, a knife too.
