In the early hours of February 21, an ordinary drive on Road 331 in Chon Buri took a dangerous turn when a drowsy driver, 42-year-old Semian Khanwong, crashed his truck into a parked timber trailer. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. at Noen Hin Intersection, leaving him trapped in the wreckage.

Local police, led by Lieutenant Thitirat Phenglom, alongside the Sawang Het Ban Thung Hiang Phanat Nikhom rescue team, sprang into action. Armed with cutting equipment, the team worked intensely for over 30 minutes to extract Semian from the mangled six-wheel truck. Despite suffering a severe leg fracture, Semian was stabilized on-site and promptly transported to Phanat Nikhom Hospital for further care.

Preliminary investigations suggest Semian may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the severe collision. While fatigue is suspected as a key factor, authorities are combing through CCTV footage and preparing to interview Semian to reconstruct the events that led to the crash.

The incident underscores the dangers of drowsy driving and highlights the life-saving efforts of rescue teams, whose swift response ensured Semian received timely medical attention, preventing a potential tragedy, reported The Thaiger.
