“The complaints say they are drunk and rowdy… they steal,” Police Major Kriengkrai Sansalee told This Week in Asia. “[People say] they come in large groups, spend a little and bargain a lot. Local businesses are affected the most because when they come, other tourists go elsewhere.”

So far this year, 13 Israelis had been charged and deported for crimes ranging from theft to public nuisance, he added.

  • Israelis even can't behave in their own country...

  • I think audibly,  most can tell the difference.

  • I don't know about that but I wouldn't see the harm if they handed younger ones a guidelines pamphlet before boarding their flights here. All of us of all nationalities are mini ambassadors while abro

There is a post-military tradition of travel among young Israelis, with thousands of Israelis spending months in countries such as India, Sri Lanka and Thailand every year.

But the number of these Israelis converging on Pai has riled up the local population.

“The Israelis here treat us like second-class citizens … we’re tired of it,” a Thai businessman in Pai, who requested anonymity fearing a fallout affecting his firms, told This Week in Asia.

South China Morning Post :cheesy: you posted this yesterday. It was wrong then too.

Over the past year, police arrested 1,634 foreigners for violating traffic rules and 27 visitors including 13 Israelis for illegal immigration in Pai, he said.

Pai perhaps.

Pai was a dope head **** **** last time I drove through there. If it ( the dope head part ) vanished it would be a good thing. The outskirts are pretty, especially the main road where wedding photos are taken. Nice restaurants too.

Mountains, river towns and beaches. No one special area.

I only passed through with a meal break a few times, but I drove through the "tourist enclave" to see what the fuss was about. It was like a zoo for pot heads. It was as if Khaosan Rd ( the 90s version ) had been transplanted to Pai.

Exactly right. Same as Haad Rin on kpn.

I find Nong Khai and Chiang Khan to be nicer.

Or the Thai PM or deputy PM Anutin.

The Thais call us Brits “The Land of the Gentlemen”

Huh, never heard that one.

I am from the US and my neighbors can't remember if I'm from the UK or US.

But if Brits popular image is like British film stars (David Niven or Hugh Grant for example) here one also meets the low class Brits who are anything but gentlemen.

Yobs I think they are called.

I know, a lot of American's behavior is indefensible, every country seems to have some embarrassing folks.

I haven’t seen any Thais banning and putting up “No Brits” signs anywhere in Thailand.

It’s just Jew hatred…put simply. This pro Palestine nonsense is supposedly the cool crowd right now , until some other deluded cause rears its head

While I agree in sentiment, people that behave poorly are not going to be convinced not by a pamphlet.

"Recommendations include curbing loud behaviour in shared spaces, respecting private property, adhering to traffic rules, observing visa limitations, dressing suitably, and negotiating courteously in markets."

I'm a bit out of the loop, but are Israeli/Jewish tourist generally known to behave poorly?

Not more, or less than any other group of tourists in their early twenties!!

Nothing says tolerance like Palestinians shooting babies in the head and cheering and spitting on the tiny coffins…,

Do as the law states, not as the locals do

Lately this and other publications are making it seem like Israelis are the only ones making trouble here.

Enough is enough already.

"The Land of the Gentlemen" is a phrase often used to refer to the setting of the Netflix series "The Gentlemen," created by Guy Ritchie, which depicts a world of British aristocracy where a high-class facade hides a complex criminal underworld, primarily focused around a large cannabis empire operated by the upper class; the "land of the gentlemen" essentially alludes to the opulent estates and seemingly refined society where these illicit activities occur, with the fictional "Halstead Manor" serving as a central location.

Oh Nick, you still haven’t learned to speak Thai yet? No wonder you are so naive.

You couldn’t read it could you?
I posted that because it not only mentions it, but also gives an explanation why we are regarded so highly in Thailand.

Too difficult for you, so be it.
