Even of you are a really horrible unpleasant person , the type of person that everyone avoids back in your home Country , the type of person who never gets invited anywhere .

You will be made to feel quite popular in Thailand

I like Thais views on death.  People die. The occasion is usually cause for a three day celebration.  Sure there is some sadness, usually followed by a party.

In the West - black morbidity.

Once I get past the institutional racism, I actually prefer the Thai culture over my own.

They view life and death more rationally. Living more day by day than a focus on past/present.

Westerners have sex/god/ego hangups and can't let go of those ingrained beliefs.

A lot of the unfriendliness comes from the lack of communication and English.  Make a joke and they give you a quizzed look.  This is the majority of the people in my experience here cuz most seem to speak little or no English.

Also, deep down I don't think they like foreigners much.  For several probably well deserved reasons.  The LOS seems to be fading unfortunately.

I never get unfriendly Thais much at all except in a busy tourist spot. Must have met 1000 and very few nasty. Some of the nicest Thais I've ever met were in places like Korat. General kindness no money involved.

Last night I went to a night market and you get different vibes off people. 50% to 60% of farangs are fine but 40%+ are angry about something.
