I agree.. you need to stop being or thinking you are an american. go join the country of wuss.. You would make a great citizen there. Trump and V allowed Zelenski to come there to discuss peace. Zelenski came there to discuss what he can get and outright said he does not want the war to end.

Perhaps you should go be his patsy instead.

This guy got so much from Biden to continue his war that he thought Trump would do the same.

I think it is great Trump chose to do everything in front of the cameras to show Americans what this Zelenski really wants.

How you managed to twist it around is shameful.

Trump and V allowed Zelenski to come there to discuss peace. Zelenski came there to discuss what he can get and outright said he does not want the war to end.

Trump wanted to discuss minerals, not peace.

Your latter statement as quoted is an outright lie.

Humble pie is coming when Zelensky has to crawl back to the W H and beg Trump to keep sending the weapons, after realising the Euros are only able to talk talk but not walk walk.

:whistling:

I doubt Zelensky will be coming back, he realizes Trump is selling him out to Russia. He will focus on marshaling support in Europe.

IMO the EU is smart enough to know if Ukraine loses, they are next.

The ANZUS treaty, signed in 1951, includes New Zealand. Do you think Trump will be coming to defend you?

Yes, he would have given Ukraine to Russia, and gotten rights to mine the minerals. Everything is transactional for trump.

What do you think was going to happen to the minerals under Biden, Or do you really think US is there to help free Ukranian people? Surely you're not that naive!

The minerals were always the spoils for the US, blackrock and all the other corps involved, trump just says it out loud.

Lindsey Graham said it blatantly they want the minerals going to them and not Russia & China.but I don't see you swarking about that.

Zman would was happy to do the deal under Biden because Biden would have kept supplying weapons and prolonging the war.

Sounds to me that you prefer people dying than actual peace if its done by Trump.

I watched that cringe worthy lecture that Trump gave Zelensky, and it caused me to be very ashamed of my nationality. This man seems to be deliberately sabotaging America's influence throughout the world on a daily basis, and he seems to be grossly overestimating the influence of America.

Does anybody agree with me?

The typical Saint Donald defenders need not reply, though no doubt you will.

Earlier Friday, Trump cut the meeting short with Zelensky, said the Ukrainian leader is "not ready" for peace with Russia in an extraordinary meltdown in the Oval Office that threw question marks over chances for a truce. Zelensky was meant to be making a full White House visit to sign a US-Ukrainian deal for joint exploitation of Ukraine's mineral resources, as part of a post-war recovery in a US-brokered peace deal.

Instead, an ugly clash blew up almost immediately in the Oval Office where Trump and Vice President JD Vance shouted at Zelensky, accusing him of not being thankful for US help in the three-year war against Russian invasion. Trump berated Zelensky, telling him to be more "thankful" and that without US assistance Ukraine would have been conquered by Russia. "You're either going to make a deal or we're out," Trump added. "And if we're out, you'll fight it out and I don't think it's going to be pretty."

Zelensky left in his motorcade shortly after, without holding a planned joint press conference. The resources deal was left unsigned, the White House said. Trump took to his Truth Social platform to castigate Zelensky saying "he disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office." Zelensky is "not ready for Peace," Trump wrote. "He can come back when he is ready for Peace."

I felt exactly the same way while watching that screaming at each other.  Especially when Trump went off defending Putin as being a falsly acused individual and as an American I feel that Trump is a traitor to the oath he took again!  He is totally against zelenskyy because of their firs meeting in 2019 when Trump told him that he had to find dirt on Hunter and his fathe conspiring with the Ukrainians during that time and Trump of course was running for re-election.  The expression on Trump's face when he couldn't get zelenskyy to agree to sign away the minerals without getting a guarantee from Trump that America would not let Putin continue to invade the Ukraine.  It was bad enough that Trump ordered the UN rep to vote with Putin Iran and N. Korea against the rest of the delegates.  I find it especially horrible in that he  was done so much against the US in such a short time and wonder just how much worse things could be.  BRICS I am sure are getting ready for their big meeting and these plus more tariffs will be ammunition for those against the US dollar to become even stronger.  I also note that many countiries will just stop doing ANY business with the US and since most manufaturers have already moved out of the US, Americans will be paying more and more for what is a lot less available.  I cringe a bit more every morning as I review the latest news from the US as well as here.  I also note more and more demonstrations popping up throughout the US but he will I am sure just feel that they are actually cheering him on!  A total idiot for President if there ever was one!

It is bewildering to see Mr Trump’s allies defending this debacle as some show of American strength,” the conservative-leaning Wall Street Journal editorial board said on Saturday, noting that US aims of limiting Russian expansionism without the use of US forces was now “harder to achieve”.

The outlet warned that “turning Ukraine over to Mr Putin would be catastrophic for that country and Europe, but it would be a political calamity for Mr Trump too. Friday’s spectacle won’t make Putin any more willing to stop his onslaught” after invading Ukraine in 2022.

The New York Times assessed that the derailed Oval Office meeting pointed to Trump’s “determination to scrap America’s traditional sources of power – its alliances among like-minded democracies – and return the country to an era of raw great-power negotiations.”

“The three-year wartime partnership between Washington and Kyiv was shattered,” the paper added.

Some conservative political figures also hit out at their fellow Republicans Trump and Vance for their handling over the meeting. “I hate to say this … but the United States right now is not the good guys in this,” said Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican congressman from Illinois who once served on a House committee that investigated Trump supporters’ attack on the US Capitol in early 2021.

“It is going to be incredibly hard to walk back from the kind of animosity we saw in that room today and to walk back some of those statements,” Republican strategist Karl Rove told Fox News. “It could have been done if cameras had not been running, but the only winner out of today is Vladimir Putin.”

In fact when Pete Hegseth, Trump’s new defence secretary, gave a speech shortly after Vance’s in which he said the US would no longer be “primarily focused” on European security and that Ukraine would never be allowed to join Nato – appearing to simply hand Russia key concessions in the negotiations over ending the war without getting anything in return – he was condemned by the Republican senator Roger Wicker, chair of the Senate’s powerful armed services committee.

“I don’t know who wrote the speech – it is the kind of thing Tucker Carlson could have written, and Carlson is a fool,” Wicker said.

As much as it appeared like a setup and a Zelensky ambush at first, I am starting to have my doubts now. If the attack on Zelensky had been orchestrated, it would have been handled more strategically, and things would not have gotten so heated. What really happened, I believe, was that Trump was already frustrated with Zelensky at that point. Trump expected Zelensky to come over and simply sign over 500 billion dollars in mineral rights, or at the very least, he thought he could pressure him into agreeing to that once he arrived at the White House. But Zelensky was not going to commit to anything without security guarantees from the US, which isn't what Trump was offering, and that is where everything fell apart.

At that point, Trump and Vance morphed into two petulant grade school boys throwing a tantrum. Tensions behind closed doors in politics are not uncommon, but for something like this to explode in the Oval Office, in what was supposed to be a polite meet and greet, became an absolute disaster in terms of optics for America when Zelensky stood his ground.

To be honest, I do not think it would have escalated like that if it were not for Vance. If it had just been Trump and someone like Rubio, you would not have seen it spiral the way it did. In the long run, this will not reflect well on Vance’s political career either. He came across as unhinged, and the history of him getting out of line yesterday is not going to age well for him.

All this talk from Trump’s camp about ending the war and pursuing peace is completely overshadowed by the reality that Trump was trying to extort half a trillion dollars from Ukraine in exchange for nothing. The meeting was not about peace, it was about money. Trump’s allies, like Rubio and Graham, can say whatever they want about this being part of peace negotiations with Putin, but yesterday made it clear that was not the real agenda. It is all misdirection.

The way Trump’s team is framing this is an absolute PR disaster. They are trying to strong arm a war torn country into handing over 500 billion dollars in assets, and when Zelensky refuses, they try to paint him as the problem. It looks predatory and extortionate. And the rest of the world sees right through it. Trump should be working to end the war for the benefit of the US, peace and global stability, not trying to pillage Ukraine for its assets, while offering nothing in return. As Zelensky pointed out in the Oval Office, ending the war is in the best interest of the US as well. But Trump’s focus is only on money, not peace.

Meanwhile, let us look at Trump’s actual track record so far. He campaigned on ending the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. Obviously, that never happened. Inflation is rising, the stock market and Bitcoin are falling, unemployment is up. He is taking jobs away from Americans rather than creating new ones. No lower egg prices, no lower gasoline prices. He has not achieved a single thing.

Granted, he has only been in office for a month, but nothing is on track and if anything, things are getting worse. If he were just a lame duck, that would be one thing, but he is actively already making things worse politically, economically, and socially.

So where do things go from here? One thing is clear, Trump does not want to lose this battle with Zelensky. He built his entire persona on being a dealmaker who could end the war. But now, things are going in the opposite direction. It does not matter who is right or wrong, he is simply not delivering. That is a serious problem for him.

When Zelensky walks away without a deal, Trump fails just as much on the world stage at being a dealmaker and a peacemaker as much as Zelensky risks losing an opportunity for peace.

Not that we ever expected Trump to deliver on anything of tangible value. The real revelation is for the 75 million Americans who voted for Trump, they are now beginning to finally understand the true meaning of FAFO.

An excellent analysis IMHO.

I think his supporters just try to gloss over the blatant extortion attempt, the petulant behaviour of JD Vance and the nauseating spin coming from the useless trio of Trump, Vance and Rubio. That's what happens when you believe in false idols and think someone is some kind of messiah that can do no wrong.

I dare not mention any more of his 'deals' here. It's one thing to change the landscape, but he's doing and talking about some disgusting things and the way he sets out to do them is quite despicable. Having a public tantrum reflects badly on him and his team, not Zelenskky, who looked like a strong leader. Trump and Co. looked weak and ineffective by arguing and losing the argument. So now they are in to damage limitation by trying to blame Zelenskky.

Nonsense about cherished Oval Office when they allow their guests to be insulted for not wearing a suit. They sullied it themselves and of course had to cancel the whole thing as the world now understands there's no sensible deal on the table at all, other than a carve up for Russia and the U.S.A.

In his previous term, he had the "Deal of the century", but let's not talk about that here. You can look it up yourself as to what a great deal that is for all concerned.

yeah, too many idiots also within the Congress and the Republicans there are way too afraid to go against Trump so..it will only get worse on the American public as the world will turn against the SU for sure - we know many countries have been waiting for years for this to happen and Trump is just too dumb to recognize the fallout from this as he has been babied by his family from birth and is just a coward who knows how much he is willing to give up just to save face a bit.
