There is nothing in the statement that makes protests illegal, as was your false claim.

So, universities should do nothing if MAGAs were beating up trans kids?

They should cooperate with law enforcement.

Just like they should for other crimes committed on their premises.

So you admit they are breaking the law with illegal protests then?  Looks like you are admitting Trump is right

Barnard College says employee injured when pro-Palestinian protesters storm building

An employee was injured at Barnard College in New York City after pro-Palestinian protesters stormed a campus building, according to the school.

Robin Levine, Barnard College’s vice president for strategic communications, said masked protesters forcibly entered Milbank Hall on Wednesday and encouraged others to come on campus without identifying themselves, according to a statement obtained by NewsNation.

TWU Blasts Barnard Protesters, Criticizes College

Thursday, February 27, 2025

The Transport Workers Union today blasted Barnard College protesters for injuring a blue-collar Security Officer – and criticized the NYC college for consistently ignoring officers’ safety concerns.

A 41-year-old Security Officer, represented by Transport Workers Union Local 264, was at his post at Milbank Hall Wednesday afternoon when a group of aggressive student protesters surged into the building through a two-door entrance. The officer, standing just outside the entrance, was pushed and shoved during the stampede. He was pinned by the rushing crowd against a beam separating the two doors. One protester lowered his shoulder and slammed into the worker like a linebacker.

Take your pick.

Trump has not asked for the existing law to be enforced, and if he did that’s a request he needs to direct to the police and prosecutors.

Universities are not a part of law enforcement.

Sadly, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Go read the 1st amendment, you clearly don't understand it.
The President doesn't need to ask that a law be enforced, lol  I can't even imagine how you got there.
All major university's have their own police force in one form or another.

Real question for you, are you American ?  I don't care but it would explain why you don't understand some really basic things.

I don't deny that Hamas has committed acts of terrorism, but so has Israel, both now in the bombing of Gaza and historically. You seem to ignore that.

Israel's acts are a legitimate response in fighting back against an enemy .

You don't know the difference between acts of terrorism and legitimate acts of war

You couldn't say that , because Palestinians were not around 3000 years ago , there were barely around 300 years ago

The Israelis were not around then, either. They were Hebrews then.

The Canonites were around 3,000 years ago when the Hebrews took over their land (with force) after fleeing Egypt (according to the Old Testament and the Koran). Today's Palestinians are descendants of the Cananites.

Seventy years ago, when the UK (which claimed it "owned" Palestine) first gave part of that land to the Jews, and then a couple of years later, the UN formalized that, there were a lot more Palestinians there than Jews. Also, since then, Israel has, over time, taken over more and more of the land assigned to the Palestinians.

I'm not anti-Israel. I am for a two-state solution so that both Israelis and Palestinians can share that land in peace. But I doubt that will ever happen.

Wow talk about ignorance.

Yes, I am a citizen of the USA. "Americans" could refer to anyone in North, Central, or South America. I mistyped the number of the Ammendment in my comment, but corrected it after that was brought to my attention.

No, you are so pro-Israeli that you won't even entertain the idea that they have ever done anything wrong in this 70-year conflict. Even if you don't want to look at the historical facts, Israel is now killing innocent civilians in both Gaza and the West Bank. Calling that some kind of legitiment "revenge" is despicable.

The link I found said Islam began in 7 CE. That would have been about 2,018 years ago. History of Islam - Wikipedia That was the source for my post. Now the religion might not have spread to the area that is now called Palestine for many years after that, maybe even 600 as you suggest. In any event, the Palestinians have bee Arab Muslims for a long, long time.

   A century is a 100 years , so 7 CE would be yet 700  , NOT year 7

7 CE is year 700 , its not year 7 🙂

You are claiming that Mohammed was born when Jesus was 7 years old and they were both in Jerusalem  at the same time 🙂

7 CE is year 700 , This year is 2025 , which makes Islam 1400 odd years old

Okay, I misread it. It's not 7 CE; it's the 7th Century CE.

But 1,400 years, or even just 1,000 years, by the time it reached the Palestinians, is still a long time.

In any event, this Forum is about Trump cutting funding for schools that don't punish people who demonstrate against Israel. That, IMO, violates the First Amendment (not the Second). If the demonstrators are breaking any other school rules or public laws, they should be subject to whatever penalties those carry. The schools themselves should not be the victims of Federal punishments.

UPDATE:

Trump pulls $400m from Columbia University, it failed to protect Jewish students

image.png

The Trump administration has announced the immediate withdrawal of $400 million (£310 million) in federal funding from Columbia University, citing the institution's failure to protect Jewish students from harassment and antisemitism.

In a statement issued by four federal agencies, officials pointed to "continued inaction in the face of persistent harassment of Jewish students" as the reason for the funding cut. The decision follows months of tension on college campuses, with Columbia serving as a focal point for pro-Palestinian protests against the war in Gaza and U.S. support for Israel.

Earlier this week, President Trump had warned that funding could be revoked from universities that permit "illegal protests." Secretary of Education Linda McMahon reinforced that stance in the statement, emphasizing that Jewish students at Columbia had been subjected to "relentless violence, intimidation, and anti-Semitic harassment on their campuses" while the university administration failed to act.

"Today, we demonstrate to Columbia and other universities that we will not tolerate their appalling inaction any longer," she said.

A spokesperson for Columbia told the BBC that the university is currently reviewing the federal announcement and intends to cooperate with the government in an effort to reinstate its funding.

"We take Columbia's legal obligations seriously and understand how serious this announcement is and are committed to combating antisemitism and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff," the spokesperson said.

Columbia University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the United States, enrolls approximately 30,000 students. Its Morningside Heights campus, located on the west side of Manhattan, has been at the center of heated debates and demonstrations over U.S. foreign policy and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

If what you say above is true, then I agree. However, you'd have to be very careful about what you describe as "illegal protests." I agree that the "illegal" parts of the protest should be stopped and punished, but the other parts should not. However, as in other protests, some protesters believe their obligation to speak out and cause disruption is more important than the punishment they might receive. And the anti-Jewish protests and "attacks" on Jews on campuses would probably cease if the anti-Muslim/Arab/Palestinian attacks by Isreal in Gaza and the West Bank would stop.

The above is true, but so have the people who are now called Muslims, Arabs, or Palestinians.

Before the division of Palestine into Jewish and Palestinian parts, Jews only made up about 5% of the population. Muslims made up 85%.

The attacks are going to cease because Donald Trump is taking measures to make them stop ,

Some foreigners are going to the USA and attacking American citizens on campuses .

Donald has vowed to deport them
