Teenager Killed in Fatal Attack During Failed Mediation in Nakhon Pathom
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 15-year-old boy was killed in a knife attack during a violent confrontation between two rival groups in Mueang district, Nakhon Pathom, late on the night of 14 March. The attack also left two 16-year-olds injured. The incident occurred at approximately 23:40 on Malai Man Road, inbound towards Nakhon Pathom. Upon receiving a distress call, Pol. Lt. Kritchai Achawasakul, an investigator from Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station, arrived at the scene along with forensic officers and medical personnel. The victim, identified as Chanthakorn, 15, was found lying face down on the road. He was wearing a pink T-shirt, jeans, and white trainers, with a knife wrapped in black tape clenched in his left hand. He had suffered a deep slash wound to the forehead, resulting in a fractured skull. Near his body, officers discovered a knife and sickle, abandoned on the ground, both believed to have been used in the altercation. The injured parties, identified as Wichaya, 16, who sustained an arm wound, and Weerasak, 16, who suffered facial injuries, were rushed to Nakhon Pathom Hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations indicate that the two groups had arranged a meeting to resolve a dispute, but discussions quickly escalated into violence, leading to the fatal attack and multiple injuries. The victim’s mother, Ms. Noi, recounted that her son had left home around 20:30, telling her he was going to meet a friend near Malai Man Intersection. He was riding a blue Filano motorbike with a red number plate and carrying two mobile phones, one belonging to him and the other to his mother. At 22:00, she attempted to call him, but he did not answer. Later, someone picked up and identified themselves as a rescue worker, informing her that her son had been killed. Upon arriving at the scene, she noticed her son’s motorbike was missing, and his friend’s whereabouts were unknown. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses in an effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities have also visited the hospital to collect additional evidence and take further statements from the injured parties. The case remains under active investigation as police seek to bring those responsible to justice. -- 2025-03-16 -
