What gives?   Your understanding of the law is what gives.  It is not legal to smoke it recreationally in public.

So why were they arrested !  Must it be their orgin!🤣

  • Big police crackdown nationally to "maintain order". Smoking cigs, smoking dope and all vaping shops temporarily closed yet the high daily death rate on the roads remains and people still riding witho

  • Pai is not the place to be... They will notice soon and than they complain.... On the other hand there are much worse things the police should take care of... simple.. black smoke fuming cars, no helm

  • Like the old cigarette butt trap in BKK. A Thai could discard the butt anywhere even if standing next to a cop but a foreigner will get the Bt2000 fine.

Oh yes, the mighty "crackdown".

Almost a whole day went by without seeing this catchphrase. I can sleep easier now.

Jesus Christ...they were arrested for smoking it in public which is illegal, as I posted.

people still riding without helmets. This stinks of Thaksin.

Not wearing protective a  gear during motorcycle ride is just an problem at individual level; not caring for own safety so much, disregarding the risk of accidents.

Is Thaksin blame for that?

Just like he isn't responsible for a curious monkey stealing tourist's mobile phone(as recently reported somewhere in this kingdom).

Even though I don't personally like Thaksin, not at all.

You have cherry picked a part of my post not directly related to the topic to fit your own narrative and hence have completely misrepresented my OP. My point was the crackdown stinks of Thaksin. Here is my OP.

This is reportable. Please do not do it again.

Hi, regarding the crack down on smoking cannabis in public.

In this case, police was simply enforcing the law related to the weed.

And it is nothing like Extortion.

These people were busted as they were smoking it in the public place like roadside.

Looks like quite a few people(incl. foreigners) don't know smoking it in the public  is Illegal while it is OK to do it in own private space.

is smoking weed in public illegal in Thailand? - Google Search

Everyone better remember it is OK to smoke Marijuana in own home/hotel room in Thailand today.

But no in any Public Places.

They were busted as they were violating that rule.

As simple as that.

It is not just a crackdown on smoking weed in public it's also a crackdown on vapes and smoking cigarettes in no smoking areas. Nowhere have I mentioned extortion. Once again you are misconstruing my posts.

WTF does the lord have to do with it! At times you so anal can't see the light at the end.  The sell it everywhere then expect people to obey where to smoke it. My Thai neighbors village grow it smoke it, same on holiday buy drink liquor you name it they do it out in the open. You like the Thai police get a hair up their canal go overboard in enforcing you and the leaders need to get their perspective and priorities straight but you coming from your orgin will be tough to overcome🤣

You mean the Lord, surely?   Someone, maybe you, I can't be arsed to go back to check, asked why were they arrested...I provided the answer.  What's your issue with that?

There is no issue with me but look in the mirror, you seems so in the dark you forget you responded to me first. I didn't ask as to why but said what is the big deal it is sold  everywhere.

To seem more intent in being anal that it is ok for you to express but not for other. As noted it must be your origin!

Personally who really give a flying F, don't get me wrong I understand the reasons but look at Thailand. All the rules again I understand rules but they make them then seem to overlook 99% of them far more important than in this case written.

There are laws smoking yet it is overlooked, liquor sold at local shop even on holidays, liquor being drank all hours of the day night within school zones (300)  driving drunk seem to be the norm, breaking of majority of drinking laws yet national headlines outrage world coming to a end over a few guys smoking weed. Where is the outrage when a kid vapors themselves to death.

Why is this such a hot issue and I don't even care for the stuff I think it is all stupid.😪

That maybe the situation in your village , but the rest of Thailand observes the rules to a higher degree than your village does
