Joe Ferrari: Altered Body State Hinders Police Chief's Autopsy

The investigation into the death of Police Colonel Thitisan Utthanaphon, also known as Joe Ferrari, has hit a snag as authorities admit to difficulties in conducting an autopsy due to the altered state of his body.

A meeting with senior police officials and forensics experts, lasting over three hours, was held to expedite the case at Prachachuen Police Station on 11th March.

Preliminary evidence, including CCTV footage, has not revealed any abnormalities prior to his death in custody. The footage shows Joe Ferrari interacting normally with guards, and there are no signs of forced entry or unauthorised access to his cell.

Prison officials discovered Joe Ferrari at approximately 8 PM as they attempted to deliver anti-anxiety medication. Attempts to rouse him were unsuccessful, and further inspection revealed a cloth tied around his neck.

Emergency services were alerted at 11 PM, but police only accessed the scene at 10 AM the following day after the arrival of all relevant agencies.

The delay has complicated the autopsy as the body, left in place for 14 hours, was repositioned, making it challenging to ascertain the circumstances of death.

Initial findings noted minor blood stains nearby, which have been confirmed as human and will undergo DNA testing. There were also small animal bite marks on one arm.

With two potential causes of death—suicide or foul play—investigators have a 30-day time frame to resolve the case. Further forensic analysis is underway, including DNA testing on the cloth used in the incident, which may take up to a week, reported Daily News.

What? It needed a further inspection to see the cloth?   He was discovered at 20:00, emergency people were not called until 23:00 but the police did not come until 10:00 Why the delays?

I confess to not following this final episode in the "Lifestyle of Joe Ferrari", but has his body been positively identified?

Why the delays? Definitely something fishy.

The more excuses that the officials make, the more dodgy it sounds.

As for yesterday's comment from the justice minister re the woman/transgender prisoner in the next cell having a period.........

This one is very confusing.

Mind you, I am not to upset that this bad cop is no longer with us.

Altered body state??? If the body was moved or put in another position, will not affect an autopsy unless it was beaten or broken after death.

Could this be the usual procedure, except that at some point, emergency services were notified because this case involved a high-pro-file case? All types of deaths in Thai prisons aren't that rare, but they don't receive the same level of attention as in this case...

"Attempts to rouse him"

Was he lying down on his bed with a cloth around his neck? How was that a hanging?

I bet old Joe just might be sharing a Mai Tai with Jeffrey Epstein on a beach some where and some poor dead sap is taking Joes place....

For crying out loud a body does not decompose beyond recognition in 12 to 24 hours......Especially from a non accident like a hanging.....

How about DNA testing?     Which seems fine for every one except for shadowy cases like this, were the results would be unwelcome...

I think the "altered state" is referring to the altered body position not the state of body due to decomposition.

I thought he was pardoned by the outgoing administration?

But no worries,

The current one will release the files.

hence the blood on the floor haha

It seems pretty obvious to me that they really do not want to find out what really happened. It is an extremely difficult task to strangulate yourself even by hanging. Takes a lot of nerve to do it that way... Or a lot of crazy... But the OP insinuates they thought he was sleeping and tried to wake him... If he hung himself they would have knows he was not alive. Perhaps this is just a translation problem.

The most confusing part is why they waited to get medical services and then why it took over 12 hours for investigators to examine him. Also, why they did not move the body to a cooler location rather than allowing rigor mortis to set in and his body start to rot?

The small animal bites could be from as simple as rats in the prison. a nip here a nip there while he was dead or asleep..Not unusual either way.

I guess the best part is that the guy got his Karma fulfilled. Lifes a beach haha..

He is not dead geez. I thought you TV pundits would have worked that out by now. Hard to do an autopsy on his live body or someone elses body....

Yes. By the time the police got to him his body was in the position of a 4 foot 2 Burmese guy. Amazing eh.

Duh , Just Thinking,

If someone had access /a key than of course there wouldn't be any Signs of Forced/unauthorised entry/ Right .  😇

Sounds a bit like the Dutch coffeeshops boss who was jailed with his wife for 100+ years. He was released and now sues the Dutch state, one of the things already known is that he was offered to leave jail pretending that he would have died but he refused as his wife would remain in jail in that case.

Yeah you read that right. I am pretty sure that case is going to create some noise in the near future. Anyway at first I thought the guy just killed himself but now I started to think twice ....

Or they brought in a dead guy, and he walked out wearing a uniform.

more to the point.. We are talking about a prison cell. Not something you can force open or enter unauthorized into.

Conflicting reports as usual.

One stated he hung himself on the cell door with a towel. It would take an almighty effort to hang yourself from that height, and surely the last thing he would use would be a towel, that makes it even harder, if not impossible.
