..When people say things like 'Liars always get found out'...

This is a total fallacy and factually untrue.

People always come out with this crap at the dinner table, but then I need only mention one name - "Jimmy Saville"...

Then the whole table goes quiet, and those who were making such claims initially, start to get red in the face..

History is littered with men and women who have gotten away with whatever crimes they have committed, so spouting a blanket statement such as the one above really gets my blood boiling.

Regards,

Bob.

The idea that all liars get caught is an oversimplification that ignores the complexity of human behavior and the systems that allow some lies to persist. It can be hard to accept, but it’s important to acknowledge that things aren't always as clear-cut as we’d like them to be.

Better examples than Saville would be....

Frank Abignail Jr.

Bernie Madeoff

John Wayne Gacy !

Better examples than Saville would be all the ones we have never heard of. The ones who are good at it, - like Saville but better.

Frank & John both got caught in the end. One served time and became on FBI agent and the other was executed.

Everyone lies Robert

I don't. Or am I lying now?

Hiding the truth, lying, these are as intrinsic to nature as night and day.

Honesty is not just overrated, it is actually an impediment to life. If everyone always told you the truth you would be a psychological wreck.

What really grinds my gears is that while liars do usually get found out (maybe after death), some liars get away with it.

It isn't that you won't be found out because that is all too easy for me 99% of the time.  It is that you might be found out and it doesn't add to the quality of a person you are nor  improve the odds of living a satisfactory life.

It is very rare for me to lie.   Not something I'm proud of and somehow convince myself it is the best alternative.  It probably isn't and I was just to lazy or weak to not lie.  It is best to take the attitude that it is what it is and deal with it.

I haven't lied to my woman in 4 years.  I make a habit of not having to!  Hard initially considering this is Thailand.

I rarely lie, when I do it is with good motives. I don't lie to manipulate people.

When I find someone has lied to me, I assess it it from the viewpoint of the damage done. The person either goes on a treat with caution list, or gets shut out of my life entirely.

took photo of cabbies ID ,cannot remember the other one ,

but it will still be on here.... but you had your camera with you .....

You get annoyed at dinner tables when you are boasting about how rich and virile you are and how many times a day you have sex , and someone comments "Liars always get found out " ?

   That annoys you ?

There is an old saying that when you tell the truth you can forget it immediately. But when you lie you have to remember it all your life.

Saville is not a good example, he got away with it while alive but lets make no mistake here, many thousands of people who knew him knew exactly what he was like and what he was up to.

Then there's his victims, they all knew as well and they likely spoke to various people about his 'goings on' - and reported him.

He was protected from 'up on high' for whatever reason which is why he got away with the things he did until he was dead, then the protection ended.

I agree.  He seems to have lived a  miserable life.  Just because he was famous doesn't imply he was happy.  If he died content then just another example of a world that isn't fair.

A perfect example of this is the monumental lie told about Biden last year and the staggering number of people who enabled it....until they couldn't anymore.

Have a couple friends that lie with abandon and they are usually the life of every party.  Weird, they lie so much that we just accept it as part of the show.  They aren't mean and well intentioned.  They just want to laugh and have fun.  Only time it gets uncomfortable is when you become part of lie while everyone is in tears laughing at something that never happened.

Never heard of them

You obviously don't go to the same dinner parties as our man Bob.

Rather to your credit actually!
