Government workers stopped going to work the last couple years. Its been getting worse for a while now. The effects of cleaning house and starting from scratch wont be seen for maybe another year

Im assuming everyone here lives in thailand and speculates what they see online. Ive got boots on the ground here the last six years, the leftists here are afraid to acknowledge me due to that

They stopped going to the office. That didn't mean that they stopped working any more than it meant people in the private sector stopped working. And social security workers who worked the phones certainly don't need to come to the office. The year is 2025. Workers don't need access to the file cabinet anymore.

I like to read left and right leaning news. They both have agendas instead of pure facts. The truth is usually in the middle. Government statistics especially the last four years can be thrown out the window.

This is exactly what I said in the last social security thread.  Trump/Musk don't need to shut down Social Security, they just need to cut the personnel until the whole department fails. 

 

If they start demanding "in-person verification" by going into a SS office every year there will be a lot of unhappy posters here!

The original post mentions events that might well be explained by increased volume as people panic over the threat to SS that Musk represents.

He said possibly the biggest fraud in history but so far I don't think any significant fraud has been uncovered.

Sadly going to the SSA website won't really give any information that could reassure one.

Every day 10,000 Americans turn 65.  Cutting staff is definitely going to reduce the quality of service.

You have to go to the sacred cow of "defense spending".

Hegseth has been crowing about starting to do that but he is cutting HR programs and leaving the weapons R&D bucks untouched.

Even, announcing a new fighter development project when Musk has announced that manned fighters are obsolete.

Weapons R&D are the big dollar projects.

When he starts to audit them I'll start to believe.

This thread has really struck a nerve with some people. Makes me wonder what are they so afraid of ? DOGE finding out they're living in Thailand on Social Security disability, double dipping, claiming benefits they didn't earn, dead family members still getting paid SS ? After reading through the comments I'm even more certain that a thorough audit of Social Security is needed. The reactions are a dead giveaway they're scared to death of what Elon will find.

When they used to pay benefits with green checks, it was easy enough to verify whether anyone cashed a treasury check.  It might take a few months for a response from Treasury, but eventually, if someone cashed a Social Security check, they'd provide a copy of the front and the back to the check.  The money could be traced.  

 

Now that most payments are made electronically, I'm sure it's even easier to verify where the money went, and if it was received by anyone.

 

So, all this argument about whether millions of people are being paid benefits on the accounts of people that are likely dead should be cleared up before too long.  Either someone got the money, or no one got the money.
