Visa concerns for upcoming trip to the US for Thai wife

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I'm scheduled to go back to the US next month with my Thai wife she has a 10-year multiple entry visa, and she's been to the US several times. We've never had any problems before, however now that the goon is showing his racist and isolationist tendencies and discriminating against people from many nations and randomly denying them entry into the US, I wonder how concerned I should be?

Has anybody had any experience with this in regard to their Thai spouse gaining entry into the US within the last month or two?

  • I was going to earnestly answer your question, but.... when you make the ridiculous and baseless point above, nah.   Good luck.

  • You have no clue what your talking about. Racism is clearly a vital part of Trump cabinet and March orders he's issued. You can get in line with them since you seem to fit right in. Again you haven't

  • The biggest problem you have when going there is it's full of Americans in stupid red hats.

If she has tattoos there is a chance she will end up in a South American jail

Well thank you for that reply, that was most helpful. She has no tattoos and she presents very well. But she is Asian.

Your welcome.

She sounds like a keeper.

If you are all legit with the right documents why would there be an issue?,she has a visa, been before,  Seems you're inventing a situation that isnt going to happen, too much believing the fear from your anti Trump media,  switch it off, fill the forms out and enjoy your trip.

(By your comments here I presumed you were gay. My mistake)

Yup, hundreds, no thousands randomly kept out of the country.   Sources for that?

Illegal, undocumented  entry is totally different to legal, documented entry.

The racist part is your libtards hards  and your lying media.

Trump has said over and over again LEGAL immigrants are welcome. He's always made a point of this.

My wives 10-year tourist visa is up this year and if she gets a new one they may restrict the duration but that's the most I expect.

Check the news or don't you know how?

One can see who are those that watch too much CNN and MSNBC, America's lowest rated networks. No worries. Your wife will be fine. A Thai friend just got her 10 yr VISA last week. The smear campaign happens when Trump does something to protect America, but when the "illegal" aggressors are another skin color, or even the "same" color (a.k.a. Europe) the radicals and big money use it to say he is racist.

Really sad that people believe the nonsense some sources promote.  Then act surprised when rational people don't buy the nonsense.

The syndrome is very real, and these people need help.

You being an American citizen and sponsor should help.

There has been a up swing in border crossing incidents between Canada and the us

Lots of people that travel regularly and know the rules being hassled, detained, refused at what was once a formality for Canadians

One tip is to take a burner phone, there has always been the possibility of phone checking but is now much higher, searching social media.

If you post to AN from your phone definitely  get a burner phone

Meant as a helpful hint.

The problems you foresee are likely with your own thinking, in your own mind. Clear those up and you and your wife won't have any problems.

I've taken my wife to the US a few times. Never an issue.

Off course There should be no problem whatsover due to past visits and fingerprint data already in the system.

Though there is the questions of tariffs on importing a Thai Wife/Bride
Im guessing as long as you have fully paid any tariffs Donald may impose you will both be fine.

What a state of affairs… genuine folks worried about going back to their own country. Would the above be as blasé if/when they get hassled with their other half, I wonder. It was a rubbishy experience getting into the US, as a white tourist even, 30y ago! US immigration was policed by robots back then, so guessing it’s a ball now!

You’ll probably be alright though Mike, but I get the apprehension. However, better off seeking info elsewhere than this hateful site.

Maybe Mike should stop sounding like a sophomoric college kid.

Mrs. Shrdlu and I are planning a visit to the US in a couple of months to attend our son's college graduation.

We've never had any issues in the past and I'm not expecting any this time. We've been to the US several times in recent years and she still has a few years left on her 10-year tourist visa.

But please do post if you do indeed run into anything unusual at US immigration this time.

As I mentioned in another post. I know of one woman who had a 10 year tourist visa that was allowed in, but was told her 10 year visa was being voided and she would have to reapply. I don't think you will have a problem.

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio has issued a statement that some Thai government officials, involved in the Uighyr relocation, are/have been/will be banned for travel to the U.S.

Some countries have declared travel advisories to their citizens visiting the U.S. Thailand, AFAIK, has not.

A Thai person - in this case a wife - should probably check with the MoFA to see of there are any issues. Wife should also check various Thai-centric forums for first-hand experiences. ANd you could check with the U.S. Embassy here.

If there were denials of entry, or detention and deportation, (of Thais) I think we'd have heard about those?

The situation is obviously fluid, and the current administration is quick to react to perceived slights and greivances, so one never knows how they might react.
