Hi,

I’m on a DTV visa so get up to 180 days per entry. Been in and out a few times so never reached 90 days before and wondering what triggers the need to do a 90 day report?

I’ve heard about it on here but IO at airport never mentioned it, nothing mentioned when granted the visa, no mention on stamps in passport and local IO never said anything when I did TM30.

If it is a requirement, surely we should be told officially or do I just put it down to TIT?

Anyone on DTV been told officially? How were members on retirement / marriage / business visas or whatever informed initially?

I agree. I knew already when I got the DTV but people not using aseannow or other relevant forums probably wouldn't know.

There is no official info anywhere about the requirement for a 90 day report when you get the DTV. I do not know if they inform you when you get other long term visas.

However, it seems that when you fill out the new arrival card online, you are informed that you have to do the 90 day report if you stay longer than 90 days.

Yes, appreciate the clock is reset if you leave and appreciate I’d need to do it if I stayed for 90 days but…

The question is how would I know?

I know you’re knowledgable and trust you on this but there has been no OFFICIAL communication by anyone.

Exactly. Nothing in the application process, nothing on the visa, nothing from IO - communication of the requirement is lacking!

If the new arrival card will prompt you to do it in the future then fair enough.

Well you will be very happy oh disgruntled one. Next time you leave and come back the new digital arrival card will tell you that.

Perfectly capable of counting to 90 days. The issue I have is that no official communication that you need to and instead have to rely on 2nd hand information

I get an email from immigration around 3 weeks before every 90 day is due.

I'm on DTV, staying 180 days or less per entry, so I will never have to do an extension.  I'm just not bothering doing 90 day reports.  It's technically required if in the country longer than 90 days, but if you never do an extension and don't need anything from immigration, there is no enforcement.  The IOs at the airport never mention it.

If you struggle with counting to 90, I suggest using an online calculator.

Just Simple 90days Report Calculator

It is not the counting that is a problem, it is the knowing that you have to count. I don't know if they inform you with the other long stay possibilities but you are not told about the 90 days report when you apply for the DTV.

Anyway, as written earlier in the thread, you will be informed when filling in the new digital arrival card; thus, going forward everybody should know and not only the people in here and in other forums.

You don't.  And once you get one there's no guarantee you'll get another.  And only applies to online reporting.  Your own calendar is a far more reliable tool in this case.

Thanks, I know as I'm using online TM47 Reporting since many years without having any difficulties. I get even the mail reminder from Immigration every time my Report is due.
