Fox News easier to understand by slow thinking fans. CNN hated in use of faggy "big words".

Fox News tends to use less advanced English vocabulary in their journalism compared to CNN.

A study analyzing the readability scores of CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News broadcasts between 2009 and 2020 indicated that Fox News had a measurably higher Flesch reading ease score, suggesting their broadcasts are generally easier to understand. This is attributed to the use of shorter sentences and simpler words. CNN and MSNBC, according to this study, tracked more closely with each other in terms of readability.

While this focuses on overall readability, which is influenced by sentence structure as well as vocabulary, the finding that Fox News uses simpler language overall suggests a tendency towards less advanced vocabulary.

It's important to note that this doesn't inherently mean one outlet is "better" than the other. Different audiences may prefer different levels of complexity in language. Additionally, the specific vocabulary used can also be influenced by the topics being covered and the intended message

Yes, Fox News is perfect for your low IQ.

I must confess that I don't watch Fox News - but then I am notorious for using long words like "marmalade" and "wheelbarrow "!

Teddy you get boring with your MAGA hyperbole

Here is an example of someone with a low IQ, and who certainly watches Fox news.  You recognize him and can find yourself in his statements?

Hmm..who was it that said over and over "I love the uneducated".....It can be a bit more difficult to con the more educated over and over and over, lie to them constantly, sell them made in china stuff along with meme hero cards, gold sneakers, bibles, and all the products now being pushed in a disgusting display of grift by the president of the united states.  It does help to have fox "news" help to spread the "gospel" to the cult.

When out of arguments, straight to attacking. Unfortunately, Ted, taking a test will only confirm Callum's words.

To suppress your urge to attack, one requires higher mental development, something lacking in many people, sadly.

In summary: Empathy, particularly cognitive empathy, does require a higher level of mental development and involves understanding and sharing the feelings of others, which is a complex process that develops over time.

Quick question:  Between Fox, CNN and MSNBC, which readers were surprised when Biden tanked the debate?

Oh lookie, a new Trump deranged member.

How about a source?

I guess this is a chance for the Trump haters to express how much smarter they think they are than Trump folks.

I dont understand the critisim though, assuming its a valid study, which it probably isnt: Fox has an enormous viewer base of all classes, so it would follow that the stuff should be readable by all. The only folks who watch CNN are the members of the Columbia Faculty, so you can spew all sorts of academic Socialist jargon to make yourself look smart.

I wonder if they do truth ratings?

This thread wonderfully brings out the worst kind of snobbery, intellectual snobbery, the last resort of small minds (no matter how well educated).

I would contend that it was left in the last four years to Fox News to be the only source of what in non-American politics would be called the "opposition".  Thus, it was not in the slightest bit  jarring to see how badly poor old Joe performed in that debate.  A lot of people on that night discovered that they had been lied to consistently by the MSM.

That night amounted to elder abuse....(but as a Fox News viewer I had seen his incapacity demonstrated daily for all the last four years).

When will you Donkey's realise the media's only function is to influence you the great unwashed to follow where they want you to go, especially in the USA where honesty and integrity are swear words, ffs look who owns what and go from there.

Channels that want to present a more sophisticated view to the same audience need to be clever enough to make it understandable to simpletons, because they won’t be able to make simpletons into sophisticates

If people can’t understand you , that is probably your problem, not theirs, unless you are a fireman.  Maybe right now, in the USA, everyone is a fireman.

The only people who are "influenced" by the media to "follow" their lead are the people who arent smart enough to think for themselves.

Another America hater who has never lived there. Honesty and integrity a swear word

I thought everybody knew this by now.

Roger Ailes had the idea for Fox, and his Business Plan is pure cynicism. He realized normal news was above the ability of the less intelligent members of society to understand, so he devised the idea of "news for dumb people". He would gear down the language, and even had the idea of hiring less than bright lights as Talking Heads. He thought the dumb leading the dumb was a winner.

Advertisers, at first, were hesitant, as were financial backers. Ailes argued that while individually the target audience of dummies were not well to do, collectively they represented a major market opportunity, provided the right products were offered to them (like magic pillows or F-150s bought on credit). Ailes further argued that a network geared toward dummies could capture them all, while networks and cable channels geared toward a brighter audience would split the audience of intelligent people.

Ailes was right. AIles looked at the IQ Bell Curve and it dawned on him that half the people were to the left of the mean, and that then-current news media went way over their heads.

I don't mind the words.

But, the way the girls dress on Fox is atrocious.

Too many bright solid colors.

They do not know how to dress well.

But there is even worse out there on other news channels.

No doubt, there fashion adviser must have  grown up in Harlem with Malcolm X.

It's really unintelligent to imagine that the people who appear on (say) CNN are actually intelligent.

There are only two whom I would call intelligent on  CNN:  John King and Jake Tapper.  All the rest are in one way or another dummies.   Take Dana Bash.  Please.  Or who can forget the ineffable Don Lemon. Or Jeffrey Zoomin (or whatever he was called) -the guy who was told to step down because he was caught masturbating on air.

You can easily estimate the intelligence of a host by the follow-up questions he or she may ask a visitor.  Or, rather, the LACK of follow-up questions.
