Isn't it high time to ban cannabis completely in Thailand?

Enough is enough!

High time?  Very punny... 😆

Playing Russian roulette by himself? Doesn't that make him the clear looser every time? Wow

It seems like it was good s**t. S**t being the operative word.

I think the outcome has much less to do with the '<deleted>' than it does with the person.

As Brit I’ve done some daft things in my time but!!  ‘well what can I say here, other than this fool has no boundaries

I was waiting for someone to blame the cannabis. Never mind the 99.99% who use it without incident. Or the influence of other drugs used at the same time - nitrous acid and probably alcohol in this case.

Good luck Mr. J, cross your fingers their test doesn't come up with the truth!🤔

First off, it is roulette, not solitaire.  Secondly, you put the gun up to your temple, not your forehead. I think this guy had his suicide already planned and he just wanted a witness.

I am very suprised he survived a 38cal to the forehead. He should have used hollow points. FYI it is not usually the brain damage that kills you. It is the blood loss, so if it does not hit and major arterys you could survive like this Meat Head did. (no pun intended).

Great game Russian Roulette...crazy stories every day in Pattaya

I prefer Scottish Roulette:

Start with a case of 12 bottles of Scotch and 12 players

Each player drinks his/her bottle of Scotch

Then one player leaves the room and the others try to work out who left!

Cannot believe that everyone believes this story without questioning it .

You are taking one mans word for it .

Could possibly be that someone else shot him in the head ?

So has he started his gofundme account yet to pay the high dollar hospital bill and his return back home?????? Stupid moron.

I invite you to imagine how hard it is to shoot YOURSELF  between the eyes.  Very difficult.

Now imagine how easy it is to shoot a person sitting across from you, between the eyes. Easy.

The moral of the story is stay away from all drugs, even overuse of cannabis isn't clever and so often leads to using other drugs despite what all the weed smokers will claim. I guess you can say the same for alcohol so everything in moderation is smart!!

A British man is in critical condition after reportedly shooting himself in the head while playing Russian roulette under the influence of cannabis and nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas”. The incident took place at a condominium in Chaiyapruek 1 Soi 3, Pattaya, during night of 8 April.

At 21:35, Pol. Lt. Col. Panasarn Khrongsit, deputy inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a foreign national who had sustained a serious gunshot wound to the head. He immediately notified Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, and coordinated with Pol. Lt. Col. Apichat Jarurak, a senior officer with the Tourist Police Division, as well as local rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

Upon arrival at the 11th-floor room (number 1119) of the condominium, rescue teams found a man later identified only as “Michael,” a British national, lying unconscious in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the centre of his forehead. Emergency medical responders performed CPR at the scene before rushing him to hospital in a critical condition.

The scene showed clear evidence of substance use. Blood was splattered across the floor, and several used balloons were found, believed to have contained nitrous oxide. A revolver, identified as a .38 calibre handgun, was also recovered with one spent shell casing still inside the chamber.

A 29-year-old Lithuanian national, identified only as Mr. J, who shared the condo with the victim, told police that Michael had consumed cannabis and inhaled nitrous oxide before suggesting they play Russian roulette. Mr. J said he refused and went to lie down, only to hear the sound of the revolver clicking, followed shortly after by a loud gunshot. He rushed over to find his friend critically injured and immediately alerted another friend to contact the authorities while he sought help from the building’s security personnel.

Pattaya police, along with forensic officers from Chonburi’s Region 2 Scientific Crime Detection Centre, are conducting a detailed investigation. Evidence has been collected from the room, and Mr. J has been taken in for questioning. Authorities are now trying to determine the origin of the firearm.

Police stated that further forensic testing, including gunshot residue analysis on both the victim and his roommate, will be conducted to clarify the circumstances leading up to the incident.

The case remains under investigation.

Russian roulette, odd game to pay, the outcome is obvious.

Movie, "The Deer Hunter" will come to mind for some. Bit of a different context though ...

Those bloody Russians...!!! 🤔

Fair point, we often discuss how backward and barbaric we think they are.

They probably say and think the same thing about us Brits.

Poor Thais stuck in the middle.

Agreed...   It is always said - there are three sides to a story...

When we only get presented with one side of a story, we are left with nothing speculation and discussion surrounding that angle...

Many of us are accused of 'whataboutery' which is created by the void of one sided or one half of a story....

... Often what is left out of a report is as important as what is reported.

Anyone keeping count of which country the most crazies are coming from?  Wasn't sure before but seems to be a clear winner emerging and on a regular basis from watching the news.

A gold medal performance for sure.

Further comments highliting your goal isn’t honest discussion but provocation by an adolescent mind trying to stir the pot for attention.... at your age a boomer should know better.

You chose a very poor example: gun crime is rife amongst Thai's...  you conveniently ignore facts with your ridiculously delusional bias.

It’s not debate

I am not here to debate. It is a forum not a debate club.

Just discuss current affairs of Thailand and add missing information backed up with links and help fellow members with questions they ask.

Most are grateful, it isn’t easy being new in a strange land, happy to help out where I can. I was helped a lot when I first landed, mostly by the lovely Thai people.

i have even helped clear up a few of your misunderstandings before, eg the pitbull etc.. No need to take it as criticism.

I think the point bluemoon and myself were referring to may have gone over your head.

I am under the impression that when engaging in Russian roulette the gun is placed against the temple at the side of the head ?

Now you might call me old fashion but how about the two dumbos sitting down opposite each other both spaced out in front of them is a loaded gun, they decide to have a quick game of Russian roulette the guy says ok buddy ole pal and picks up the gun and shoots him in the forehead?

Agree.  Maybe he smoked a cig and the nicotine was at fault?  Maybe he drank a red bull and that caused it? Maybe he got ditched by a cute thai gal and that caused it?

I suspect that any legit study will find pot is a very very very very rare cause of shooting yourself in the head while playing russian roulette.  Getting ditched by a thai gal is much much more likely cause.

Sadly I can believe the number of posters on here who unquestionably accept the Lithuanians story. I’m with the few who know there’s far more to this than has been said.
