China Halts Critical Exports as Trade War Intensifies

You obviously don’t realise that the majority of these products is already used domestically in China. China doesn’t need to sell any to the US (lots of other countries would happily buy them) but the US desperately needs them.

Guess who will cave? Rhetorical question, no need to answer.

The Chinese don't need to sell to the US?  That's really what you're going to try to respond with?

No. The fault is Trump's. If so many of us here on aseannow.com could see the threat posed by this dearth, what excuse has he got?

it won’t be difficult for China to expand domestic consumption if it really wants to.

How would it do that and where would the money come from?  China has a lot less money since the trade war began.

You sound as ignorant as that Jesse Watters clown. Only about 14% of China’s exports are sold to the US. Even if the US completely stops all trade with China, which it can’t do as evidenced by exempting over $100B from the incorrectly termed reciprocal tariffs, it will merely hurt China, not destroy it.

Obviously it's an important part of their exports. But it's about 15%. So yes, it should be able to weather the loss for a while. As for the USA, apart from damage to its economy, it's going to be damaging politically. I don't think Trump's position among working class people is going to be improved when their living costs rise sharply. And those are the people who are going to be affected disproportionately.

I would imagine China needs to sell them more than the US needs to buy them.

Apart from the question of respective needs, how much more does China need to. 15% will hurt but is it enough to stop them. They can also export more to other countries.

What if I’m actually Chinese and not white? Like I said in your thread, you are clueless.

Let's do business with communists. What could possibly go wrong.

Australia has been doing business with China for decades. China is our largest trading partner. Get a grip.

They might still be exporting them, but they obviously won't be exporting them in anywhere near the same numbers, which means a much lower income.  This is all while the current tariffs are still affecting them.  And we haven't even seen how Trump will respond.

You seem to be allergic to that 15% figure.

In the words of the OP…youve got nothing

Sure, China doesn't need its biggest trading partner at all...  🙄

Obviously, for most things, the US can likely find another source, whilst China cannot find a buyer to replace the US.

China is the world's largest manufacturer. So exactly where is all the stuff that China exports going to come from? You think it just takes a snap of the fingers? What other country has their depth of manufacturing talent? In the long run sure. Can the US hold out?

I'm not sure how they can choose for other countries to buy from them, but it will be interesting to see what Trump's response is, and what China's next step will be.

At least I had a good education that taught me how to use punctuations correctly and good grammar. “You have got nothing“ is just bad English…

You seem to be overly sensitive to it.

Not only is this a clueless comment as Gweiloman pointed out (you think Chinese people are incapable of writing and speaking standard english?), but as usual, you make your attack persona. That's because you had nothing in the way of evidence to offer as a rebuttal.

It seems like you can’t understand a simple answer. Not even as clued up as a Chinese peasant…

China continues to shift exports to Global South

Exports to the US now comprise just 15% of China’s total shipments, down from 20% in 2018

It could really once from anywhere.  The materials are more of an issue, but manufacturing is not isolated to one county.

probably all?  A lot of China's technology is stolen, and their business model is ear slavery.  If that is hard to replicate elsewhere, that's probably actually a positive ting.

Indeed.  Can the US hold out, and can China hold out?

No. I just understand that 100% -15% equals 85%.

What answer?  I asked you a question, you cannot answer it, so you're the one who is lacking in their knowledge.

It's idiomatic casual English. Perfectly OK in a venue like this.

Have you heard of something called “AI”? It stands for Artificial Intelligence and not A 1 as the highly intelligent (?) American Education Secretary seems to think. Try it sometime. You might learn something.
