My 5 year renewal at Ayutthaya DLT was pretty easy, went and made a booking 2 weeks in advance, 1.30 pm i think it was.

Had the online video pass proof on my phone.

Watched a short video explaining the process then entered the room with around 7 other people, 1 lady controlled all the tests and stamped the paperwork without leaving her seat, very impressive !

Then downstairs for the photos and the finished license , all done in around 45 minutes to an hour i think with some waiting around before and after the photos.

The previous renewal was a shambles, no order and very little indication of where to go or what to do next.

Same with me, pretty easy but I did think the distance test was more difficult, it used to be in a closed box that was dark.  Nice lady had to stand up and help me, 555,  Nice lady.

I think I paid about 500B there.  Captain asked, how much can you pay? I said normally 500B, he said OK.

If he had asked for 500 baht I probably would have just paid ( begrudgingly ) but it was the whole process:

He gave me the envelope with a grin in that back room away from prying eyes and said 800 baht, I asked him for a receipt ( knowing full well he would never provide one) and his face turned to thunder and he almost shouted “ 800 baht “ .

Probably caught him on a bad day it i was also not too happy so i turned around and walked out.

My license was cancelled when I reached 90. Just as well, the mince pies are not what they used to be. My wife drives me now, bless her. A heart attack is just one beat away.😉

Maybe not about this issue, but you will certainly have it regarding other things. Just a question. What is a glass half empty guy? Something you heard your father tell you every time you needed help with your homework? 😂
