A Chinese national is in critical condition after he lost control of his high-powered motorcycle he was riding and crashed into an electricity pole early morning on 23 April, reportedly after hitting a speed bump at high speed.

The accident occurred at 05:15, in Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 3, Pattaya City, Chonburi Province. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue centre received an emergency call and immediately coordinated with Pol.Lt. Anand Mahakit-Asawakul, deputy investigation officer of Pattaya City Police Station, who rushed to the scene with rescue volunteers.

Upon arrival, responders discovered a Kawasaki black superbike, bearing registration number from Bangkok, damaged after colliding with a concrete pole. Debris from the motorcycle, including shattered parts and a broken full-face helmet, was strewn across the road.

Lying unconscious nearby was the victim, believed to be a male Chinese national aged between 30 and 40, with no identification documents found on him. He sustained critical injuries and was found barely breathing. Rescue personnel and medical staff administered first aid at the scene before urgently transporting him to hospital.

The crash also caused damage to roadside property, including a set of tables and chairs and a makeshift awning belonging to a nearby food vendor.

An eyewitness reported that the victim had been seen riding the same motorcycle through the soi multiple times during the night. Moments before the crash, he was observed riding at high speed, hitting a speed bump and subsequently losing control before slamming into the electricity pole. Both the rider and the motorcycle were thrown in opposite directions from the impact.

Police at the scene secured CCTV footage showing the victim travelling at high speed immediately prior to the accident. Initial investigations confirmed that no other vehicles were involved.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and are working to establish the victim’s identity.

"An eyewitness reported that the victim had been seen riding the same motorcycle through the soi multiple times during the night"

So one might assume he would be aware there are speed bumps on the soi? Did he think speed bumps are there to give an extra thrill to driving beyond ones ability?

So he should have known about the speed bumps.

Ignoring on a two wheeler is a very bad idea.

On the other hand it is a shame and typical neglect that many speed bumps are barely visible particularly in the night.

They are meant to be clearly visible to remind drivers to slow down.

They are not meant to be invisible death traps.

Yes, 'speed bumps' aren't really a suitable name!

Obviously a slow learner or possibly under the influence of something he'll know when he leave the hospital
