while that is true,  I'm just pointing out that many things in 7-11 have risen 25-35% in a couple of months, is it CP greed? who regulates what they charge? as others here have also pointed out how much they're usual buys have gone up.

Decades ago I used to wonder whether it was worth walking to Big C for many items when I could just buy them at 7 for quite literally a baht or two more. Times have really changed. I don't really do anything but emergency shopping and the occasional beer in 7. Nevertheless I am definitely noticing prices either extremely high when looking at the product / it's something that I regularly purchase there and at other places such as big C and notice a substantial difference in price.

 

Like in the states 7 learned to ask their customers to pay for  convenience. Can't say it's harmed their business in the least

 

Unfortunately  un like Japan where you can find amazing prices and lawsons and 7.

 

Please tell me that you're not buying f<deleted>xxng Toasties that recommended to by TT tourists

I had. A search. The cheapest I could find were B79 (+delivery), which is the same as TOPS in Chiang Rai. Where do you get the from, if you don't mind telling me?

Chocolate: TOPS is now very expensive. I have a weakness for the Ritter Sport Marzipan bars - a few months ago B89, now B119. Cadburys "bubbley" is now B48, yet 7/11 push it out for B33. The Ritter Sport of course is from Germany, Cadburys here is * think made in Malaysia.

 

Coffee, as others have said, has gone up similarly. I find Lotus the cheapest. All my local shops have is those ghastly 3 in 1 sachets.

Saw an ad today on the BTS for Lactasoy milk: 9 baht... Heavily advertised a few years ago as 'Lactasoy 5 baht', so a whopping 80% increase in only a few years. 

 

Services too; last time I went to my regular Bangkok barber (mid 2023), I paid 160 baht, but less than two years later he's charging 200 baht now, that's a 25 percent increase over the past 20 months!

The price has increased similarly here in Germany, if not even more (sometimes it is double what I am used to), due to the very bad Cacao harvests. Like the Coffee somebody quoted before, this has nothing to do with Thai greed.

Yes prices of many things are increasing. Coffee prices up worldwide. The hiccup with Nestle in Thailand. Those probably affected coffee prices here. Also, the US dollar has fallen 8% since the beginning of the year thanks to the D-bag in Washington. As USD is Thailand and the world's trading currency, that should mean it's cheaper for Thailand to import products and commodities (from any country) for cheaper, so, really, prices in Thailand should be reducing if anything. Doesn't make sense. Could be an advance money grab by the oligarchs fearing what's next to come - tariffs and recession? Get the money now before it's gone?

Well, the food business is pretty much monopolized by CP; a late arrival by another member of eliterian oligarch roots is the Chirathivat family (owners of Central group) with their addition of "Go Wholesale". All the small "convenience" stores get their supplies from literally the same source as everyone else.

However, you not noticing increases in prices means a) probably you do not do your own shopping, and b) you not noticing does not make the increased prices go away... and C) your indifference to increased prices would be an enticement for companies to further increases....
