Mobile Phone Internet that is cheaper but is not unlimited in Bangkok - How does it work?

So I was told that in Bangkok mobile phone intenet is more expensive than in Chiang Mai, where I pay 300 Baht for unlimited internet that is always on. Is it true that in Bangkok mobile phone internet is more expensive and that people opt for not unlimited internet but internet that is sometines on and sometimes off? Is that a real thing? How does that work?

I bought an AIS SIM card off Lazada which gives me unlimited Internet access, always on, wherever I am in Thailand. Bht 200 per month.

On my AIS SIM, I get 40 GB per month, currently at 108Mb/s down & 48.8 upload. Enough for FHD TV, even BBC iPlayer on NORD VPN. Checked using Ookla Speedtest, other app may say differently.

That is not unlimited. It clearly states that it has a 40GB limit.

What 300 baht/month unlimited plan do you currently have in Chiang Mai?... Why wouldn't that work in Bangkok?

There is always two possible limits, volume and/or speed.

Both unlimited if exist must be extremely expensive

And that is false advertising.

Limited speed AND limited volume sold as unlimited.

In some countries consumer protection would kick them.

 

I need mobile internet only when mobile meaning to be on the road, out of the house.

For that a GOMO (AIS network) package is enough for me.

110 GB, unlimited speed, 699 Baht/year.

Last year I had 150 GB for 999 and didn't use it up.

It includes AIS WiFi where available and some xxx minute calls to all domestic networks.

The "unlimited" speed varies between about 50 and 150 Mbit/s.

As usual depends on location, time of day etc.

And even 50 Mbits/s is just a measurement with no practical implication.

Watching videos, video messaging etc. is possible with much less (like the 15 Mbit/s advertised).

So I guess people voluntarily switch off their internet data, so they don't hit the 40 GB limit.

Mine works perfect, both in CM and BKK. I'm thinking of buying someone a SIM card who lives in Bangkok.

The usual nonsense.

It's of course theoretical as it measures speed to the internet exchange of the provider.

But who defines the "realistic" speed.

That's you with the applications/countries/servers you use.

TRUE still has the THOR unlimited 15 Mbps SIM pack, Now for 3,500 baht.

 

GoMo(AIS) has unlimited 15 Mbps for 259 baht per month.

 

Truly unlimited, as opposed to the packs being claimed here as unlimited.

So which would you suggest....mynet or Meteor, or is there one I don't know about please. 

Obviously using a VPN connected to UK slows things down a bit, but I still get 15 Mb/s up & down, enough for iPlayer etc.

Is he suggesting that @KannikaP is getting 108 Mbps on a 15Mbps package?
