Crime Disabled Australian Tourist Robbed in Pattaya Hotel by Woman He Met on Beach

An Australian tourist has filed a police report in Pattaya after claiming he was robbed by a Thai woman he had invited back to his hotel room. The incident occurred in the early hours of 8 May, at a hotel in Central Pattaya.

 

At approximately 01:10, Mr Keith William Dobie, a 65-year-old Australian national, arrived at Pattaya City Police Station to lodge a formal complaint with Police Sub-Lieutenant Akkarapong Saenputawong, the duty investigator. Mr Dobie reported that 350 AUD and approximately 3,500 baht in Thai currency had been stolen from him.

 

According to local civil defence volunteers,, the foreigner was found near Pattaya Beach in a distressed state, shouting for help from passersby while seated in a wheelchair. He claimed that a woman had stolen money from his room and then fled. Volunteers reported that the suspect was seen near the beach wearing different clothing, presumably in an attempt to avoid recognition, but Mr Dobie was able to identify her, but she ran off.

 

Mr Dobie told police that he had first met the woman on the beach while pushing his wheelchair. The two engaged in friendly conversation, which led to him inviting her back to his hotel room. After returning to the hotel, he went to take a shower. When he emerged, the woman had disappeared, along with the cash he had left in his trouser pocket.

 

The incident has been formally recorded in the police daily log. Investigators from Pattaya City Police have been dispatched to collect evidence and locate the suspect for questioning.

 

Police have not yet confirmed whether the suspect has been apprehended. The investigation continues.

It ain't worth 350 kangaroo bucks and 3,500 baht to have your name published in a dodgy Pattaya newspaper over an incident involving a thieving coconut bar working girl. I'd pay 5 times that to keep my name out of the paper.

 

He must have sharp eyes to allegedly recognise the girl wearing different clothes.  Must have been something distinctive about her - assuming of course it was a she.  This sort of stunt is usually associated with chicks that have dicks.

I don't recall ever needing a shower after a "friendly conversation", much less with her still in the room.

 

I'd have called the 3500 baht and $350AUD a learning lump and kept my mouth shut.  What's his most favorable outcome?  He said - she said?

Yeah, same here. Seems to me it was a good life lesson. I can't see myself running to the cops.

No sympathy. What do you expect when you pick up a street prostitute? They are not  working the streets because they actually want to have sexual intercourse with disgusting men. Rather, they are there to make money to pay off drug or gambling debts, or because of poverty. The people who freelance the streets  are usually turned out by the bars because they have HIV or  have a history of stealing or violence.  This is not a secret.  The police were  nice to entertain the complaint.

Jeez, I feel sorry for him why put the poor fella down an old man in a wheelchair looking for some fun.  The girl should be prosecuted and I bet there is some enhancements for taking advantage of an elderly disabled person.  Sad really.

What do you figure would be the result?  He says she stole money.  What if she says she didn't?  How will he prove it?  It's not like she stole his iPhone or passport.

Silly old fool. Takes a stranger back to his hotel room, then proceeds to take a shower while leaving all his valuables unattended in her presence. I would have bet money on what would happen.

 

Led by the wrong head. Even at 65.  Still. Lesson learned. I bet he won't do that again.

Are the volunteers disabled too?  Or was the 'wo man' too fleet of foot? (Even in high heels!)

And what if you were a 65-year-old wheelchair-bound person whom society has long written off? Then it's quite the opposite - he might actually want this 'news' to spread as widely as possible and eventually reach Australia, so his fellow residents at the care home would be consumed with envy.

 

My theory is that he deliberately set this up, and while peeking from the bathroom, his greatest concern was that she might turn out to be honest and not rob him at all.

I've never had a problem with the Thai's in Pattaya, only foreigners.

A room safe may not withstand a professional but safes you from such mishap.

I would be less concerned about cash but passport. mobile phone, car/motorbike keys which might go as a collateral.
