Amazing you can hold it in that long.

He lets it out here.

On topic, sounds like a partial blockage in the pipe. A plumber's suction plunger would be the most effective remedy.

Have you checked that the cistern is filling correctly? If the valve (ball valve or other float) is closing too early, you may be flushing without enough water.

  • I have never had a toilet for 15 years, so can´t help you, more than tell you it´s time for a new one.

  • Does your septic need sucking?

Tried that to no avail.

The toilet used to make a sucking sound at the end of the flush, now it doesn't do that and requires an extra couple of flushes to clear the bowl. Holding the handle down when flushing seems to help the flush. Pretty sure it's not blocked as everything does eventually disappear.

The toilet has worked well (until now) for 15 years, so maybe needs some kind of gasket kit in the cistern?

Sounds like your toilet tank is not full enough: there isn't enough water volume being released to do an effective flush. This can be remedied by adjusting the height of the slider attachment that determines how much water flows into the tank before the water shuts off.
