No, it's a Jamaican expression. That girl was from Jamaica. She didn't mean it literally. She meant they were extremely demanding.

Maybe ban all Israelis from entering Thailand. They are a bunch of misbehavers.

Aw shucks. If not the local Israeli weed shop, where's a brother supposed to go now to get hooked up with magic mushies?

  • There was some talk of that earlier this year. They are banned from a few countries already.

Maybe got busted on purpose considering IDF hunting men to join the assault in upcoming Gaza invasion. Better to be locked up than come back in a body bag.

I had this black masseuse in Cayman Islands. Very young girl. She worked at the Westin where I used the health spa all the time. During a massage she told me she hated Jews, because they were so extremely demanding. They like to have their feet licked, she said literally.

I think you forgot to mention "she" said "she" hates jews because they like to kill Christian babies and use their blood for baking and religious ceremonies...

I think that you are making that all up .

First you say "literally" , then "not literally"

Busted! lmao

Obviously was talking about his own antisemitic feelings...

I can remember back in the 90's, very much backpacker boom times, a lot of guesthouses in places like Chiang Mai would have signs up saying " No Israelis" or similar, same for Samui. I don't think it was being done out of anti-Semitism .

Considering there's more weed shops/cafes/bars than massage shops on the island these days I'm guessing most of the <deleted>ty ones who sell very low quality weed (because they don't have a clue about it) etc are a front for illegal narcotics.

So many competing for business that they are diversifying into serving drinks, food, gaming, and now apparently mushrooms.

Not at all. This young Jamaican masseuse really did not like jews at alll. It came up after I asked her what are her clients like generally. She said most are okay, only the Jews from New York she didn't like, because they are so incredibly demanding "They like to have their feet licked", she said, which she didn't obviously mean literally, she was saying they were excessively demanding. I remember when she said it she appeared quite angry, she must have had a bad experience.

True story.

Is this now a silly comment contest ?

You are probably right , there really is no room for joking in this serious matter I shall endeavour to maintain a more solemn disposition in future

But the headline for the OP was rather "silly" to start with, he is obviously not a tourist in the normal sense of the word. Tourists do not work in weed shops with their Thai business partners. and  Its hardly a vacation job like fruit picking

There weee hundreds of those signs, newer ones more recently in Pai.

Well this is a thread about an Israeli in Thailand , your story is about a Americans in Jamaica . Others side of the World , different people and different Countries

Should we have public executions and banning of their nationalities once a confession  is obtained by any means necessary?

Like in Palestine!

I know, I know, I was just responding to that poster who reported how Israelis were banned in CM from an excursion company due to their obnoxious behaviour. That reminded me of that petite black girl at the Westin giving massages who bitterly complained about the behaviour of jews with her.

It seems to be a common thread.

Israeli misbehaviour is nothing new in Thailand.

As long ago as the early 1980s the biggest mountain trekking company in Chiang Mai banned them after getting so many complaints from their guides about obnoxious Israeli behaviour.

That's true.

The trekking company also ran a popular guesthouse in Fa-hahm back in the day.

Their guides - mostly Karien and Lisu - flat out refused to accept Israelis after having so many bad experiences with them.

To say it was anti-semitism would be ludicrous.

It's not race, religion, or politics, it's the way they act.

When there is a story about Thais misbehaving would you also chime in with stories about American Buddhists in Jamaica ?

Well, American Buddhists in Jamaica and Thais are not a single ethno-religious group the way Jews and Israelis are, so obviously not.

Thailand is far more ‘single ethno-religious’ than Israel. Jews make up around 80% of Israelis, whereas Buddhists over 90% of Thais.

No the question was comparing American Buddhists and Thai Buddhists, who are not an ethno-religious group, they are too diverse.

However, Jews in New York and Israelis are an ethno-religious group, indeed often New York Jews also have Israeli passports, and the diversity within this ethno-religious group, Judaism already being made up of a mish mash of different ethnic groups, does not negate Jews from outside Israel and Israelis being an ethno-religious group, which while diverse ethnically still sees itself as one unit.

At least I'm not the only person that recognises Israeli doesn't necessarily mean Jewish.

The figure is actually about 75% of Israelis are Jewish, the other 25% are Muslims, Christians and none of the above. So it's worth remembering that criticism of the state of Israel or Israelis isn't antisemitism by default.

Compared to where?

Koh Chang Koh Lanta Koh Samet and many more islands. Try them far better than Samui 🤷🏼

It is all about personal experience and timing. Many Islands in Thailand, and recently the last decade, the more southern Trat Islands hitting new records.

Have been to Koh Chang (twice) and Koh Lanta and much preferred Samui. Haven't been to Koh Samet so can't really comment although, reading up on it and speaking to others, it doesn't really sound like my cup of tea.

Each to their own.

I think its only Thailand where "Buddhist monks" regularly get caught with money running into millions or luxury cars etc, they certainly put their own spin on it

I seriously doubt a tibetan Buddhist bears any resemblance to a Thai monk except in name only

Point being that if you're going to equate and Israeli Jew to an American Jew , then why not do that for all Religions .

For example : If a Saudi Arabian misbehaves in Thailand , would you then use an American Muslim misbehaving in Jamaica as a comparison ?
