Two Israeli Embassy staff members were shot dead outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday night. The heartbreaking incident, announced by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, has sparked a thorough investigation.

DC Police are treating the site of the incident, opposite the FBI’s Washington Field Office, as a crime scene and urge the public to steer clear.

Sources close to the situation indicate the victims were linked to the embassy, though their identities remain confidential. The Israeli embassy is closely cooperating with law enforcement to unravel the sequence of events leading to this horrifying crime. Fortunately, the Israeli ambassador was not present at the crime scene during the shooting.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi and DC's Acting US Attorney Jeanine Pirro are present at the scene, overseeing the investigation. Meanwhile, Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, expressed his heartbreak over the violent act which occurred during their event at the museum. His statement reflects a community reeling from an act that shattered the evening's peace.

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, condemned the attack, labelling it as an anti-Semitic act of terror. His strong words underline the gravity of this crime which targeted embassy officials. As the investigation unfolds, authorities call on residents and visitors to exercise caution and heed police advisories in the area.

The motive and identity of the perpetrators are yet unclear, leaving a cloud of uncertainty. Police and the embassy work diligently to provide clarity, while the community mourns this senseless loss. As events develop, all await further information to comprehend the full impact of this tragic event.

So they were murdered for being suspected Jews or did the killer actually know about the embassy connection?

Both horrible but at least for the latter you can see a political motive.

Unfortunately at times we are all blamed for our respective governments actions wheather we agree with them or not.

Yeah sure but if the killer didn't know they were Israelis more than likely he would have killed AMERICANS. I'm certainly that most attendees at  Jewish museum in Washington D.C. are NOT Israelis.

Quoting the UN ambassador, who immediately pivots the crime to antisemitic terror, as the original article said.

The sneezing part.

If this wasn't directly targeted at known Israeli officials, then it obviously WAS an act of antisemitic terror. Murdering random assumed to be Jews -- what else could it be?

The sneezing part was a reference to the fact that anything and everything is labelled an act of antisemitic terror by Israel - and that's before any sort of investigation has even begun. Could it have been a robbery, plain and simple? Is that UN ambassador (or we, as it were) judge, jury and all the rest? That's not how legal systems work - all I'm saying.

Oh I get it.

You're just a hater of Israel who is LYING.

Sneezing, huh?
Don't be absurd.

It wasn't a robbery. DUH!

Again, I don't approve of murdering diplomats of any country anywhere, but the key question here is whether the killer knew they were Israeli officials or was just targeting likely to be random Jews.

The former is arguably a politically motivated act. Just killing Jews for being Jews is another thing entirely.

I feel about this kind of the same way I felt about the killing of the insurance company CEO in NYC - zero confusion about the morality of outright murder, yet understanding of why.

Kind of like how I understand how half of Americans voted for a retard, twice.

Obama was evil.  Still, people voted for him twice.   But he wasn't a retard.

At the time of the news blip .... statement, nothing known, but had to an anti semitic attack.  Not a random mugging gone bad, or 3 way love affair ending badly.

... "Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, condemned the attack, labelling it as an anti-Semitic act of terror.

The motive and identity of the perpetrators are yet unclear" ...

The Israeli Ambassadors statement in full, he was well aware that the suspect was an activist and had shouted free palestine.

No, it couldn't have been a robbery.  The suspect shot the Israeli couple at close range as they were exiting a social event for young Jewish professionals at the Capital Jewish Museum.   Washington D. C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela said  at a press conference "the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, Illinois, was initially 'observed pacing back and forth outside of the museum' before he approached a group of four people, 'produced a handgun,' and shot the two victims."  https://www.yahoo.com/news/2-shot-dead-near-fbi-025955620.html

Rodriguez was quickly detained by event security staffers and was heard to shout "Free, free Palestine" while in custody.  Under the circumstances, it's not odd that the Israeli ambassador and others labeled it as an act of antisemitic terror.  Washington Mayor Muriel  Bowser, who certainly isn't Jewish, said at the same press conference "we will not tolerate any acts of terrorism and we are going to stand together as a community in the coming days and weeks to send a clear message we will not tolerate antisemitism."

To equate the murder of a young Israeli couple with sneezing is atrocious, but it's what can be expected of a Hamas supporter.

Amazing how you can turn the murder of two people into an anti-Trump thing. Absolutely pitiful.

Here's an update with more detailed information about the shooter, although his membership in a left-wing political party hasn't been verified by law enforcement.
