British Pedo in Thailand for 25 Years

Featured Replies

I just watched this BBC program on a UK pedophile who lived in Phuket for 25 years.

It was apparently a pretty high profile case after he jumped bail and fled after getting a passport under an assumed name.

He led a pretty open life, never tried to hide, in fact Tim Newton was interviewed and said he was very active in the community.

Now Newton can be forgiven, he's Australian, but surely given the fact this guys face was plastered over British media not one UK resident on Phuket recognized him in 25 years!

Somehow beggars belief

Oh come on, folks read newspapers from their home country and a lot of Brits would have moved to Phuket after 1997 and would have had plenty of exposure to the case on TV in the UK

Never heard of him ........and I have been here (where the subject matter is more likely to be aired) for nearly 20 years and there for 48.

As this was a VERY BIG story on this forum back in March this year and you were a member back then, it just proves how unobservant people can be!

I'm not a Brit so probably didn't take much notice of it back then, it wasn't until I watched the documentary that it seemed incredible that he could have lived alongside so many Brits in Phuket without being caught

Yes, the feminazis who now run the BBC never stop agitating against men.

Pedophilia is a crime against defenseless children. What does it matter who calls out such "men"?

What does it matter who fuels pedohysteria since everyone does?

Only trained observers can commit a face to memory from a photograph. All he needed to do was lie low for a while until there was no more publicity and then ease his way into the community, using his assumed ID of course. He was clearly a very remorseful chap.

I did like the comment by the judge when it was pointed out that Burrows will probably die in prison. -  "I don't suppose there'll be anyone who'll mourn that."

Not only did I see it, I was the third person to post on it. Not very observant of you @Ralf001!

You have a serious problem with your moral compass.

I'm thinking better to be safe than sorry in this type of case. One victim is one too many.

Had drinks in the open bar,  about a decade ago in Chalong Yacht Club - he was frequently there, early 20's at the time, never would have even considered he was what he was, he was close with a sailor here Grenville Fordam, he even openly said (i believe both personal/commercial relationship) he was in shock/disbelief, i believe the community even raised the funds to get him back to the UK, completely unaware.

He didn’t live “alongside” me. I’ve lived in Phuket for 20 years and never met the bloke. Then again, I never knew about his U.K. issues either. So even if I had met him in Phuket, I would not have connected the two.

Do you know all your countrymen in the city where you live as well as have an encyclopedic memory for all child abuse cases in your own country? I doubt it very much.

Of course I don't

But my point was this guy was brazenly open. Tim Newton knew him through business, he was very active in the boating community and as others have said he was out there, apparently flaunting it.

Did not one Brit exposed to UK media ever have an inkling that this was the same pedo wanted in the UK

25 years old story. No reason to know.

Sorry, I still don’t get it. As far as I know this guy wasn’t brazen about his past at all. In fact he was living a seemingly normal life under an assumed name. In other words, hiding his past, not openly flaunting it.

Even if you are right that he was brazenly flaunting his previous crimes, which I don’t believe he was, I still didn’t know him and also had no idea of his previous criminal past in the UK, nor is there any reason why I would have. I never met the man despite living in Phuket for 20 years and I certainly don’t remember U.K. newspaper stories from 25 years ago.

The proof of my argument is in the pudding. Nobody exposed him for his previous crimes. So that is a fact.
