JamesPhuket10 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago It just further evidence to support my outlook and attitude towards Thailand. Thailand is great, I love it, I have been coming here for 30+ years on long holidays and have lived in Phuket for 2.5 years now (3 months holiday in England at the moment). But as we can never be resident here or fully retire here we should keep all of our major assets in our own country, and our money, only bring what we need here to live on. My Thai partner owns the house we live in as she bought it from her tour business income, we balance out our expenses between us. I keep a few thousand pounds in cash, and access to £50k instant money in case I ever need to "do a runner", we are after all temporary guests here on our temporary annual visa extensions, with no rights at all it seems when it comes to the crunch. He was found not guilty during the first court case it seems, but on appeal they found him guilty despite all of the evidence in his favour, hence time to do a runner. I see a lot of hatred towards him by many farangs is due to the fact he may have a lot of money and so the 'green eyed monsters' are out and about every chance they can get. Good luck to him, I hope it turns out well for him in the long run. 3 2 1 1 9 3
Popular Post riverhigh Posted 7 hours ago Popular Post Posted 7 hours ago From all the articles written about this case, this is an arrogant dispicable individual. My hope is that the rumors are true that he has left the country and a warrant of arrest is in place to ensure that he will not return. I never want to bump into someone like him. The furhter the way he is from this country the better!!! 2 3

I think any impartial person who saw the video, saw the interviews with the various parties and read the reports of the incident would reasonably think that he was guilty of assault. That he has money has nothing to do with it. He kicked a female in the back, from behind, without provocation. To me, that's indefensible. 2 4 1 1 1

Any witnesses, any CCTV tape, anything?

Thank god we do have the police, lawyers, judges and the rest as it would all be a real mess if we were all convicted by social media. People who spend time on blogs such as this are impartial, that is funny.
Baba Naba Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He did not want to spend a month eating rice in Bang Kwang and split. black tabby12345 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Looks like his "connection" previously walked him free, no longer works. Fled from Thailand? Everything he put in previously here, will be confiscated. As the penalty, a lot more than a only 1 month behind bars. 1 2

He rented the villa, no doubt paid for by generous people donating to help the animals. Mind you he could be classed as an animal, one that requires culling 3 2

Why do you feel the need to call me crazy? Do you have insight in the mans and the family´s finances? Do you know for sure, what money has been used for that? After, obtaining a villa at the beach? They rented the villa. TopThai54 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Guys get real ! Did he kick the lady doctor hard in the back ? More likely a touch or slap because the lady was clearly seen walking away without any pain or screaming for help on the Video ! Check your home country when a foreigner hits a local does he have to go to jail for that ? Most unlikely ! The court simply tried to calm down the locals for not loosing face Remember in the first hearing he was not convicted because the 2 ladies had disagreements and different accusations ! If Urs was a general trouble maker and nuisance I don't know in Phuket I don't know but the case is clearly exaggerated by the media and locals ! 1 1 1 3 2
Popular Post Kerryd Posted 6 hours ago Popular Post Posted 6 hours ago According to the original story - he was renting the villa - for 1 million baht a month !!! (Seriously. I wasn't the first to question what he did for a living that he was paying a million a month to rent that place. Surely not making that much money from an "elephant sanctuary".) And his attitude after attacking the doctor - for the crime of sitting on some illegally constructed steps that were actually on PUBLIC land - suggests he was not your average kind-hearted retiree, And then he skips the country after getting a 1 month sentence ? That he could have - easily - appealed and been let out on bail while waiting for the appeal to go through. I think there's a lot more to the story than is being shown in the media. And how the **** was he even able to leave the country ? They should have had his passport and his name should have been in the "vaunted" biometric security system. Unless he had "other means" to get out of the country, which would lead back to the 2nd sentence in this post. 3 2
