An MP from Thailand's Pheu Thai party has vehemently denied rumours that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has fled the country, criticising those spreading false information.

Mr. Anusorn Iamsa-ard, the party's representative, confirmed that Thaksin, who returned to Thailand in August 2023 after 17 years of self-imposed exile, continues to reside in the country.

Anusorn highlighted Thaksin's ongoing contributions to regional politics, notably his recent role as head of an informal advisory group appointed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the current ASEAN chair.

During his international trips, including visits to Brunei and Malaysia, Thaksin engaged in discussions concerning the Myanmar civil war, South China Sea tensions, and ASEAN trade relations.

Rumours of Thaksin's alleged escape emerge ahead of court proceedings on June 13, where Supreme Court judges will address charges against him for supposedly fabricating health issues to avoid imprisonment in Bangkok Remand prison.

Additionally, a court trial linked to a lese majeste lawsuit against him is set for July. This lawsuit references Thaksin's 2015 remarks suggesting royal involvement in the 2006 coup that resulted in his ousting.

Anusorn implores the public to disregard unverified news and focus on national development challenges, asserting that false reports aim to undermine government stability and unity.

Anusorn, do these real actions undermine a Justice System and government's stability more or less than false reports?

Or is imploring the public to disregard reports deemed false by the government far easier than imploring Thaksin to stay out of politics lest he destabilizes the government and country?

Hopefully he has gone to see his buddy Hun Sen, for a very long vacation before going to Dubai again.

Yingluk won't be coming back anytime soon which must have peed him off as he hoped to have her back for Songkran.

But the question is, would he leave his daughter behind to face the music.

If he's gone or soon to be gone I can't see Paetongtarn taking the heat for long

Would she step down as PM and follow the family to Dubai?

Not before filling her suitcase with the remaining public money that Thaksin and Yingluck were unable to grab before fleeing last time.

Anusorn, do these real actions undermine a Justice System

'Justice system' - do you really believe Thailand has an unbiased judiciary that forms its judgments on juris prudence as opposed to something else? I guess you also believe the Election Commission is an unbiased body too? Tooth fairy?

Explain to me, if you can, where in my post I said I believed in an unbiased Thai judiciary. These are solely your words which you are trying to pass as mine.

Go troll someone else, Looser.

I wonder who was on the plane that she took to Monaco and UK.

With his flair for theatrics I think if it was false there would be or will be soon a big PTP party.  Ifnot he is gone.

But unfortunately, not forgotten.

If Thaksin has fled, then a coup is coming. Someone would have told him. He just couldn't shut up and stay low profile as he had agreed. A coup will mean no elections for another 4-6 years probably and the country - and most Thais (except the rich Thais of course who like coups) -  will slide even further into economic crisis.

But...What Have The Thai People Gotten For Their Money This Time Around... (?)

Not much, cause they were screwed over - they voted for Move Forward - but the establishment (the Troika) made their puppets disband the party. They had already done a deal with Thaksin for PT to lead a minority government while the coup makers still sat at the table in government. That's why he was back from his hideout the same day.. Now it seems he and everyone else is back to square one. Here's the thing. The Red Shrts - Thaksin's base - have largely abandonded him (and PT). The Establishment know that and have no further use of him or the government anyway. Dark days ahead. Thaksin's fault for trying to be a big shot, and the Troika of course.

I was wondering the same thing. He has property in London - I think Yingluck is there, right? Then there was that defiant message from him that he would fight to the end (sort of Thai-style Trump foolish comment). That could have been his goodbye kiss. If true, Monaco was just an excuse for the trip to Europe and the Labour Government in the UK would have given the nod that they would let him stay, and wouldn't chase him away this time.

There will be no coup.  Thaksin leaving would just be him getting out of Bangkok before the knock on his door.

There is no appetite for a coup and too many groups would be against it.

If they want to get rid of the PTP all BJT has to do a say good bye.

That is not going to happen, however, there is nothing stopping them from saying that while PTP has the most people, BJT should have the next PM and it would be Anutin

PTP wants the power but if it is a choice between teh coaliton ending and an election that they would surely lose BIG TIME I think Anutin would be the better route

Not yet he hasn't. When justice catches up with him and his lies are exposed he will abscond as usual.

When that happens his daughter his puppet will have her strings cut.

I am surprised to hear so many non Thai citizens gunning for Thuksin, I had a friend that worked for him when he was in power, she is a fine upstanding extremely intelligent lady. She told me of the many things that Thuksin was trying to do to improve the lives of the not so fortunate Thai people but was continually blocked and ridiculed by the Thai elite, hisos, the generals and so on. Maybe he did screw up but he made his money prior to becoming the leader unlike many others.

If Pita from move forward party had been allowed to lead Thailand would be a different country now and many of the reforms that Thaksin was trying to push through would be again on the move!

I think he has... where smoke is is fire.. He fled to Cambodia apparently.... Of course with threads of a new coup, his jail soap, and his trial for violating section 112 he is sure that he will be sentenced so the coward left already till everything is quiet and clear to come back again as a hero, but I think everybody knows now that he is only for his own and family working

I'd be happy to hear that he's left and that will be the stake though the heart of the Shin Dynasty.  Miss Junior Shin won't last long in her position of power without daddy at the helm of the ship of state visiting the grandchildren.
