Given the degree of Western hatred and loathing for the non-Western cultures of Russia, China, and Iran, it's just a matter of time before the global hostilities blows up into a world war.  Everywhere you look there is open hostilities and talk of war.  I see World War 3 coming although most AN members probably don't due their continuity bias (the unconscious cognitive bias to continue with the original plan in spite of changing conditions).
The rhetoric toward non-Western nations has been the same most of my life: The West and especially the US are the bastions of freedom and democracy, and most other countries who are not vassal-states of the West, especially Russia, China, Iran and all countries labeled as "The Axis of Evil", are "aggressive, authoritarian dictatorships all seeking to militarily take over the world.

So therefore they must be destroyed. Peace Through Strength will prevail!  And by golly, the US and NATO will be the ones to do it!  Just turn on the main-stream news and listen to the rhetoric from the West.  "Russia, China, Iran, and the DPRK must be stopped by the West whatever it takes."

So I'd like to know - when World War 3 arrives it will involve the US and NATO countries as well as their Asian allies in Japan and S. Korea, fighting against Russia, China, Iran, and the DPRK all of whom have interlocking mutual defense pacts - so, what are you going to do?  Once this fighting starts, it will quickly accelerate to a global confrontation specially due to these interlocking mutual defense agreements.

To quote The Clash:

"Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble,
And if I stay it will be double,
So come on and let me know."

So - will you stay or will you go?
If you stay, what are you going to do?  How do you plan to weather the storm of global war even if Thailand again takes a neutral stance?
If you go, what's your plans?  Where are you going to go and what are you planning to do?

I would take a guess that Thailand will be a better place to be than anywhere in Europe.

Though of course one of the Indonesian islands would be better still

It would be a nightmare though, imagine no Nutella, no Milka, Ritter Sport or Digestive Biscuits..

No Leo beer or Pad Thai or bar-girls.  "Gawd no!"

I think you have me on ignore OP but i will answer anyways so you get an accurate answer here firsthand. The best place to be world war or not is in the US. As long as you are okay with not being the famous handsome guy in your village anymore. As i said before dont burn your bridges in your home country

It's much easier to "survive" in Thailand than a cold northern European country..

I'm just going to have another beer 😋

Can't say I've ever tasted any of those.  I won't miss 'em.

Not that WW III would ever happen, and quite silly to even think it would, but can't think of a better place to be than Thailand.

A country not really dependent on any other, can feed itself, especially if you live outside the metros.

The big world nuclear powers are too intertwined financially and trade wise for WW III to happen.   Wars are profitable money machines, and WW III would not be profitable for anyone.

Russia & China are not interest.  USA is spread thin and too far away for either of them to be concerned.  UK & EU is a joke, so not having a spat with anyone, as losing proposition.

Proxy wars are profitable, not world wars.  Yet another silly 'what if' and never going to happen.

I think that after nuclear  holocaust  that wont matter too much ?

but I could still eat a banana from the tree in Thailand  and not freeze to death in winter.

It wasn't too good for non-Japanese foreigners in the last one.  They're going to pick a side and if you're not on that side, you'll be skedaddling (or working on a railroad).

So that's why you started not one, but two threads in 48 hours alluding to nuclear annihilation?

Why don't you go watch The  3 Stooges and chill out a bit?

I'm sure a total ragnarock will be as a result of continuously simultaneously happenings, be it super volcano or a total astorid/comet impact. But mistakes can happen out of numerous reasons.

I'm not so concerned about out of hands scenarios like that, more if there is no return one way or the other as well be separated from the wife.

Thailand would most likely be one of the safest places, but having options is still good.

If middle east goes off, there is several border tensions that can escalate, don't forget that.

China with Laos and Cambodia relations, where at least one of them latest shot at each other with one fatality on the Cambodian side.

For now the trade is more valuable than war. Myanmar is no joke, and Chineese friendly.

If you go, what's your plans?  Where are you going to go and what are you planning to do?

Even if you decided it would be better to leave Thailand, where, exactly, would you go?

For now, we'll set aside the fact that if WWIII begins in earnest, it will probably be over in about 45 minutes.  Once they start exchanging ICBMs, you probably won't have time to go anywhere. The electrical grid will likely be down, as will be internet and the banking system.  You might survive for a while if you live out in the jungle somewhere and have a supply of clean water and food.

One time I read that, given the world's prevailing weather patterns, the best place you could be in the event of a global thermonuclear war is New Zealand.  I've never been there and I've never researched the question myself.  But  if they're still requiring mandatory COVID jabs, once you take one of those you could be dead in a few years, in any event.

My plan is to not plan.  Don't waste any time thinking about it.  It's something you can do nothing to stop, and if it happens, you won't be around long anyway.  Party on.

Maybe keep some actual cash on hand., or maybe some gold and silver?  Maybe pay your rent in advance, if you pay rent.

China is about business first, and a war with the US is bad for business. Russia is weak, they can't even take a small country like Ukraine. Trump will take care of Iran.

So your whole premise of war will not happen.

Stop watching BBC or MSNBC.

"We prepare for war with China".

Hegseth was not only on these.

Let me believe he is just a bigmouth and/or liar.

Is China willing to go to war with Russia? It seems like they don't like or respect Putin.

Remember when Putin met up with Xi and basically admitted how far behind Russia was in comparison to China. That was embarrasing!

And assuming there will be no AI screw-ups.

Watch WarGames, and that was 1983.  Actors today aren't nearly as smart as Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy.  Neither are the writers.

I still question the viability of Thailand, depending on which side they capitulate to.  Thailand worked out badly for round eyes during the last WW.  It could be just as bad in the next one.

China is not going to war with anyone. There is no money in killing the customers. Putin and Trump are on their last legs and are a bigger threat but will find it hard to get someone to pull the trigger.
