A 36-year-old Russian man was apprehended by immigration officers at Phuket International Airport, facing serious allegations of fraud and cybercrimes.

According to a statement released by Phuket Immigration, the suspect was intercepted in the international arrivals terminal and taken into custody without incident. Authorities confirmed he was wanted in connection with multiple offences, including public fraud, cybercrime and breaches of the Electronic Transactions Act. An arrest for the suspect had previously been issued by a Surat Thani court.

Investigators allege that the individual played a key role in supporting illicit online activities designed to deceive the public. These reportedly involved unauthorised access to electronic banking systems and manipulation of online platforms for fraudulent purposes, in violation of The Computer Crimes Act.

“The individual is accused of enabling access to financial accounts without lawful authority or intent, actions that are considered serious offences under current cybercrime legislation,” an immigration official stated.

Following his arrest, the suspect was promptly transferred from Phuket to Surat Thani City Police Station, where he remains in custody while the investigation continues. Officials have not disclosed the specific nature or scale of the fraudulent operations allegedly linked to the suspect. Further details regarding his case, including his identity and possible associates, have not yet been released by authorities.

The arrest underscores Thailand’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on transnational cybercrime and electronic fraud, particularly those exploiting digital banking systems and online commerce.

Russian passport.

Off to the front lines, and over the top.

This is why I will never do this digital wallet BS because of scumbags like this trash hacking into the system and robbing people, I shop at Makro and they scan there stuff then enter their pin numbers into their phones in front of me... All I need to do is lift their phones and go buy a ton of gold.... I hope this scum ends up in prison for a long time...

Do you mean singling people out by their ethnicity and nothing else and blocking their entry? Fortunately Thailand is generally and officially averse to such bigotry and prejudice. Most "undesirables" can be prosecuted since they eventually get caught, as in this case. Better to let a few lawbreakers in for the sake of preserving the vast majority of innocent people's rights. This is the fundamental principle of law and democracy, yes, even in your country. So, to paraphrase, Thailand will never learn ethnic hate and bigotry, and thank god for that.

All domestic travellers flying on a foreign passport are automatically checked against the crimtrac database when presenting their passport. .......
