It literally is, lol. One isolated incident in a class I would not use is not going to deter me from train travel.

Maybe he likes vans?

“Alleyes are now on law enforcement to determine the course of justice following this jarring episode.”

I wouldn’t be holding my breath for law enforcement to do anything.

I did 3rd class from Had Yai to Bangkok once because all other classes were booked and I had to get back for work.

I felt I completed the remainder of your fight with Mike Tyson.

To make it worse I thought drinking a flat bottle of Hong Tong would ease the pain and help me nod off on the bench seat.

Sort of worked. After I had puked up in the sink I fell off the bench and passed out on the floor into a deep slumber. Woke up around Hua Hin a terrible mess and all the locals giving me the evil eye and muttering dark spells against me After making profuse apologies I found a clean bathroom , tried to spruce myself up and moved to another 3rd class carriage. Talk about flying the flag for foreigners. Never again.

That's hilarious, thanks for sharing 😂

There sure is a lot of sparked outrage in the Kingdom these days.

Presented as "Top News".  Really?  In the days where everyone seems to record everything and then posts it online, then expect these non stories to continue.

Thai tv news is just the same, Ch32 this morning reported a <deleted> cat rescued from up a tree.

Two men came in, sat down and began talking in voices more suited to an iron foundry, really loud and intrusive.  I won't mention their nationality as no nation is immune to rude behavior.  Then one started a phone conversation, literally yelling at the person on the other end.

context.   It was me.  I was yelling because my 90-year-old grandfather, hard of hearing, was in a life-and-death situation.  My yelling saved his life.   When I looked around, all I saw were farangs in wife-beater shirts drinking beer and looking at their tattoos.

It's like when I saw a crowd running.  soooo rude.  Tsanami.   Oh.   Or screaming.   Bomb.  Oh.    Everyone assumes it's terrible because it isn't good for them.   Like loud music and scaring away ghosts.   You should thanks everyone for the karaoke machines.   life savers.

Chinese?

Why demeaning the Chinese ethnic ? There are always good and ugly nationalities all over the world. I am ethnic Chinese and I behave like a good world citizen wherever I go. Polite and courteous.

3rd class on a night train to Chiang Mai.

Grueling. The stuff of backpacker fables.

Backpacker? fables? It's certainly a hardy journey but not limited to backpackers as we can see. Just poor people.

I once took the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai just for the experience. The trip was enjoyable, but I would not do it again.

I was in a small, enclosed  Jomtien restaurant yesterday, enjoying breakfast.  There were several other customers having quiet conversations.

I and the others just sat there, annoyed but not wanting to initiate what would almost certainly be a fruitless confrontation but the Thai cook/owner surprised us all as he emerged from the kitchen, pointed to the door and told them to pay and get out!  They were as shocked as the rest of us were!  Actually said: "Sorry, sorry." as they paid up and left.

We applauded.

In America we have those techno d*cks that walk around with their earphones talking loud and sharing their conversation. I think people that behave like that do not have anyone to listen to their crap so they need to go outside and find an audience.

I did a 3rd class overnighter from Surat Thani to Hualomphong many years ago. By necessity not by choice. I can't even sleep on a sleeper train so there was no chance of me getting any shuteye on that trip. When we reached Bangkok I felt like I'd gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson 😂

I travelled 1000s of km in India on trains all 3rd class/non-reserved. Long time ago when backpackers were actually backpackers not spoilt brats. Very tough going but fantastic. One journey there were actually people camped in the toilet. Bags and all. When ever anyone had to go the people in there would get out, wait till your finished, and head back in. Met some fantastic people in my 6 months travelling India. It's the same here. Most people are great especially those who are struggling. Every now and again tensions get frayed and it's usually because some arshole has no regard for others.

What restaurant was that? I think they are definitely worthy of custom.

It doesn't take much these days to make people completely lose it.

When people lose everything and they have nothing left to lose....they lose it
