Clash of the Titans: Trump and Musk's Public Fallout Sends Shockwaves Through Washington

As I predicted yesterday. The auto pen/staffing issues within the White House of Biden administration now completely dropped in favor of chasing some salacious story today. The typical board miscreants and unemployed have proven me correct once again. Out in force this morning - or shall I say evening for for those in the UK and us that are almost all posters in this thread.

It's especially tiresome seeing your posts Mike. You absolutely do not live in Thailand. This is fact. Nevertheless, you seem to waste endless amounts of your time  -taken away from those four fabulous businesses you have yet to detail the impact of the Trump administration upon. By businesses I mean you drop ship wine on Amazon amirite??

Really, where's the source or is this just a lie to appear humourous?

Clash of the children more like. Inevitable that this kind of thing would happen between two narcissistic kids. Wonder what the maga lot think of it.

Not much, it's just two vulgar men with huge egos having a fight in the playground, the low intellectual capacity of the maga mob will cause them to side with Trump, unless they are unemployed with maxed-out credit cards due to his tariffs or line workers at Tesla now fearful of their jobs. It's degrading but it's the American way.

Musk Strikes Back: SpaceX Grounds Dragon Spacecraft Amid Clash with Trump

Elon Musk has escalated his feud with President Donald Trump by announcing the grounding of Dragon, the spacecraft used to ferry astronauts and cargo to and from the International Space Station. The dramatic move, revealed Thursday on Musk’s social media platform X, marks a significant shift in U.S. space operations and deepens the political fallout between two of the country’s most influential figures.

“In light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately,” Musk wrote. His post included a screenshot of Trump’s earlier threat to terminate federal subsidies and contracts linked to Musk’s vast portfolio of companies.

The implications of SpaceX pulling Dragon from service are potentially severe. Dragon is the only operational spacecraft capable of returning large quantities of cargo to Earth, and it was the first privately built craft to transport humans to the space station. Its grounding could disrupt NASA's ability to execute routine missions, particularly given the limited alternatives for human-rated spaceflight and cargo delivery currently available.

NASA, in a measured response, expressed its intention to proceed with the administration’s plans for space exploration. “We will continue to execute upon the President’s vision for the future of space. We will continue to work with our industry partners to ensure the President’s objectives in space are met,” wrote NASA press secretary Bethany Stevens on X. The agency stopped short of commenting on how it would immediately address the vacuum left by SpaceX’s departure from ISS operations.

This high-stakes development is the latest in a fast-unfolding feud between Musk and Trump. The rupture began as a simmering disagreement earlier in the week and exploded into public view on Thursday, when Musk accused the president—without presenting evidence—of being named in classified documents connected to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump, for his part, has not shied away from responding in kind. In remarks at the White House, he lashed out at Musk for criticizing his economic policies and downplayed the billionaire’s influence in the 2024 election. He further implied that Musk was turning against him now that Tesla, his electric vehicle company, stands to lose financially under Republican plans to roll back EV tax credits.

The situation quickly devolved into a public slugfest, with Trump threatening to eliminate government contracts to Musk’s companies, and Musk countering by taking direct action that could jeopardize critical federal programs. The decision to ground Dragon is not only a technological and logistical setback for the Trump administration but also a calculated political maneuver from Musk, who appears determined to leverage his industrial empire in this personal dispute.

As tensions mount, neither man seems willing to back down. Musk’s role in the Trump administration—as head of the now-dismantled Department of Government Efficiency—once signaled an unusual alliance between Silicon Valley innovation and conservative governance. That relationship, however, has now fractured spectacularly, with real-world consequences that could extend far beyond Washington.

Musk, whose companies span sectors from space travel to artificial intelligence and automotive technology, has shown he is not afraid to use his platforms—both digital and literal—as weapons in a political fight. The question now is how far he’s willing to go, and how the federal government, already rattled by the abrupt change in space strategy, plans to adapt.

With the International Space Station depending heavily on Dragon for both supplies and crew rotations, and with few other options ready to step in, the feud between the billionaire and the president may soon extend beyond rhetoric—into orbit.

It is extremely foolish, as you pointed out Trump could nationalise Tesla and Space X. Especially now that Musk grounded Dragon, that alone could be a reason to nationalise Space X.

Maybe the Ketamine is taking its toll on Musk.

On what grounds could he nationalize Tesla? SpaceX I get, how is Tesla a national threat (other than the Tesla Cybertruck - which is 17 Times More Likely For Fire Fatalities Than Ford Pinto without being investigated - but that's a whole other can of worms)?

Well, he could nationalise Space X on the grounds that Musk has prevented Dragon from aiding NASA as it was supposed to. That alone could be argued to lead to a need for nationalising Space X.

Trump could nationalise Tesla on safety concerns, given the many accidents Tesla has caused with its self driving software.

Trump vs. Musk: 8 Ways Their Feud Could Unfold

The growing feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk could have significant political and economic consequences. Here are eight ways their conflict could escalate:

What Musk Could Do:

  1. Fund Opposition Campaigns: Musk could use his billions to fund campaigns against Trump and Republicans, even withholding the final $100 million of his pledge to support Trump.

  2. Social Media as a Weapon: He could leverage X (formerly Twitter) to stir controversy, like proposing a new political party and supporting Trump’s impeachment.

  3. Expose Trump: Musk might drag Trump into controversy by alleging that Trump’s administration delayed the release of Epstein-related files due to his involvement.

  4. Disrupt Government Operations: Musk could threaten to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, halting critical NASA operations.

What Trump Could Do:

  1. Cut Contracts: Trump could end government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, potentially costing Musk billions.

  2. Investigate Musk: Trump could push for investigations into Musk’s naturalized citizenship and past drug use.

  3. Revoke Security Clearance: Trump could revoke Musk’s top-secret clearance, making it difficult for Musk to continue his work with NASA.

  4. Use Presidential Powers: Trump could use executive orders or direct investigations to target Musk’s projects or personal interests.

This high-stakes feud could reshape the political and economic landscape in unpredictable ways.

In the United States, while nationalization (government taking control of a business) is generally possible, it typically involves compensation to the original owners, as mandated by the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution. This ensures "just compensation" is paid when the government takes private property, including businesses.

Compensation can be paid through government securities or bonds of public corporations created by the nationalization law, though.

Then Trump can blame Elon for causing the deficit to go up.

To the "of course" above:

just compensation
A payment the government is required to tender under the Fifth Amendment’s takings clause for property it has taken through eminent domain for some public purpose. The amount due for the property is typically its fair market value, as would be assessed by a reasonable buyer, and should generally compensate the property owner for additional expenses associated with or incurred by the taking.

The purpose of just compensation is to return the owner of the taken property to the original financial position they had been in prior to the government’s taking, as though there had been no governmental taking at all.

Yes, he could amend the nationalization law to allow payment in the Trump crypto curency. Thereby boosting the value of his crypto currency and giving Musk basically glass pearls.

You have to admit, musk do have some characteristics and easy to ridicule especially the last 6 months, touching and tasting a little bit world power.

And are you so blinkered that you can't say the same thing about Trump?
