Crazy farang

Featured Replies

I've been driving here for 18 yrs never had a major problem untill today, I'm driving along all of a sudden a farang on his forza going fast tried to get past through a small gap on my nearside, he hit my wing mirror quite hard, I lost my temper as anyone would, he then started shouting, he came up to me trying to kick me off my bike, now chasing me, hit me on my helmet as he past, shouting again, I wasn't going  to stop until it was in a safe place to do so, stopped at a market, he came up to me saying you kicked my bike, I said "what are you talking about, why are you being so aggressive"? I did nothing other than get a bit angry, "why did you kick my bike, why did you hit my helmet" his reply "I thought you wanted to fight" Ridiculous.

I can't drive anymore sensible then I do already, I'm not an aggressive person I just want to enjoy riding and get to where I am going safely, what is wrong with people?

I'm seriously considering giving up riding but it's all I've got, it's dangerous on the roads, other cars, other bikes and crazy people.

Feeling despondent, I did nothing wrong.

You are right mate, it was scary how aggressive he became, he knew what he had done but tried to make it all my fault.

No mate, I just became a bit angry via words as most would.

Need to choose your fights more carefully, did he look like a shady dirty farang? used to getting into trouble perhaps with tatts galore?

You played it right. If you got into a spat you'd be in the monkey house as well.

Everyone in Bangkok has cameras and I mean everyone

I don't choose to fight anyone, he looked like an ordinary no tattoos farang.

Ha ha, yes,

On the road, so many unhinged foreigners, they're everywhere these days

The most dangerous people on Thai roads are some of the foreigners.

I ended up in hospital February, eastern European woman, in her 50's, cut in front of me to negotiate an illegal U turn, a small opening through the concrete blocks placed by council middle of the median strip.

Difficult to avoid someone coming fast from behind, he did mention he wasn't feeling  good due to a bad day, guess he took it out on me.

Don't let this a-hole get to you. You had 18 good years and you can have 18 more.

Personally, whenever I ride/drive here I just pretend I am the safety car on the track for an imaginary race called the "Down Syndrome 500"......

Makes me less angry. Because who can be angry at a bunch of Downies?!

Well this guy tried to kick me off my bike which would have pushed me into on coming traffic, he admitted he was having a bad day,bad enough to kill someone it seems.

See what I mean? The most dangerous people on the roads are locals, who cause 99% of all accidents here. Of course some foreigners aren't good drivers, but look at your wording. It isn't so many foreigners,as again, most accidents involve locals. I've been here 7 years, and on the roads daily, and in all that time, I've only seen a few foreigners that were acting unsafe, but the locals I see all day, every day, every year driving unsafe.

Pattaya has a huge concentration of foreigners so you might see more of them driving unsafe, but if you notice, it's still the minority of all the unsafe driving you'll see. I'm pretty observant driving, having been a driver for many years trying to stay away from bad drivers, and I watch who's driving like a nut here, and again, it's rarely foreigners. I can say, when I was in the US, it was mostly foreigners driving unsafe there. Meaning the locals of all nationalities, with teens, Asians, old drivers, and black women being the worst.

I don't mean this as an insult, but if he genuinely "came out of nowhere", there is probably a chance that you might be able to drive a little more sensibly.

Nope, I've been riding here for years, I can tell what the Thai's are doing, where they are going, how they will react etc.

A foreigner is unpredictable, you got to be cautious around them.

He lives in Bangkok, spends his days on his keyboard.

He never gets out and about.

That's because foreigners on bikes are the minority, Young Thais are the dangerous riders
