Search Underway for Missing 72-Year-Old Woman in Phuket

Rescue teams in Phuket are conducting a critical search for a missing 72-year-old woman, Yenjit Pae-Ui, who is believed to have fallen into Khlong Bang Yai. The search operation was prompted after relatives reported her missing, with her shoes found near the canal, hinting at a potential accident.

The Phuket Kusoltham Foundation received the alert about the missing person in the Mueang district, immediately mobilising rescue personnel to begin the search. However, initial attempts to locate Yenjit were thwarted by Khlong Bang Yai's strong currents, forcing the temporary suspension of the search.

Efforts are set to resume today, June 11, as plans are underway to navigate the challenging water conditions and intensify the search operation. The family of Yenjit remains hopeful as rescue teams regroup to explore further strategies to locate her.

The incident has brought attention to the hazards posed by strong water currents and the importance of safety measures in areas near waterways, especially for vulnerable individuals. The community and officials are collectively hoping for a positive outcome as the search continues.
