Israel says it has launched strikes on Iran's 'nuclear programme

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu issues a statement on Israel’s strike against Iran and its nuclear program:

WHITEHOUSE STATEMENT

Statement from Secretary of State Marco Rubio “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”

May as well go all out; flatten all the nuke sites, take out any and all missile sites and go after the revolutionary guard while you're at it, because you know what's coming anyway. The Iranian people are cool, but those lot in power are not wired right.

Unconfirmed report (I have the TV going) is that the Iranian General Military Staff has been obliterated and the IRG Commander has been nicely unalived.

The second has just been confirmed by Iran.

This going to be sort of one sided

Hopefully, Israelis are working with moderates in Iran to get rid of the zealots who have ruled the country since the '70s.

Otherwise, this could go real sideways real fast.

Edit:  And I hope they took the lessons of Libya and Iraq and Afghanistan to heart and don't leave a power vacuum.

You and I are in agreement on this one.id take extra care being around anything that’s easy to attack they will retaliate via soft targets imo.

Nothing to celebrate because Iran will retaliate. Hopefully, not with one of its nuclear  devices, even  a dirty bomb. The  missiles Iran will fire will pass over some arab countries and there may be collateral damage. Iran may even  attack UK and US interests in the region because they are seen as the enemy too, since they back the Gulf Arabs against Iran.

The Iranian dissident community social media is running with "thank you uncle Benny" jokes, which is in keeping with  Iranian "black" sense of humour.  I hope that  the missiles fired between the two are restricted to military targets.

I have a feeling that Israel is going to get clobbered, but whether it happens nor or in a year, it was inevitable because the Iranian  nuclear talks were going to fail and Iran has lied about its nuclear stockpiles.

Well, we finally agree on something. Power vacuum point is a good point. Libya can be added to that list.

Wikoff has made some remarks on that but I guess Israel knows those risks.

According to Axios, Trump’s envoy told Senate Republicans US concerned Israel’s air defenses could be overwhelmed by a retaliatory attack involving hundreds of ballistic missiles.

One country attacking another country without UN resolution. Any sanctions expected? 😀

Azerbaijan is slavering. They are the ones working towards that. There will be a Persian rump Iran and a lot smaller country.

Report: The second wave of strikes are beginning. Mossad is on the ground in Iran.

Anybody commenting further should recognize. Israel controls the air completely and the F35s are just raining hell. So its a fait accompli. Iran is gone as I predicted in this forum a few months ago.

Not in a million years, if anything, Iran could become glass.

Self defense.

Iran used to be a nice place until the meddling Americans came along.

The Shah sure looks better these days. Too bad France propped up khomeini and then helped him take over Iran.

Yes, its the Israelis in the headlines yet again! Now expanding their 'forever war' to Iran. The Iranian regime is abhorrent, but the fact is that Netanyahu did not want the talks to succeed and has been looking for an excuse to do this for years. He has been obsessed with Iran's nuclear aspirations for decades, while simultaneosly refusing to acknowledge Israel's own nuclear arsenal. Never mind the hypocrisy. Kudos to the Americans for not participating. The west should make it clear, that as he ignored their calls for restraint he is on his own. How long will the world stand by, while this war-mongering war criminal imperils the region and the wider world?

So, the UN is the World Police? Now that they have been infiltrated by terrorists, the whole organization should be shutdown and disbanded.

Stupid to criticize the Shah. He was over thrown because he was liberalizing Iran and apparently going too fast for the Islamic radicals. And pro-Soviet regimes and opportunists like France decided to support Khomeini. See the White Revolution.

Azerbaijan is on the brink of a war with Armenia. Its artillery units are reported as shelling  Armenian territory for the past week. Armenia relies on its land corridor  to Iran and  Azerbaijan wants it.  It is alleged, that alot of the material that has bypassed the international sanctions on Iran transited Armenia.

Trump tried. There were multiple  good faith offers made, and every time Hamas, Islamic Jihad and others refused to end hostilities and to release the hostages. It is unreasonable and unfair to blame Trump when the terror groups refused to enter into a peace agreement. Trump put alot of pressure on israel to negotiate and to accept things it was uncomfortable with. It was Gaza which did not want  peace.

BS France helped him take over Iran. Where is your sources?

Armenia survives due to Russia and the Armenian Lobby in the USA. That corridor my not be necessary. Look at the map. And remember, the Azeris are supported by Israel and they are formidable.

I dont know if there is a breakway movement in Baluchistan
